Working with Mustang studs is almost exactly like working with this animal. As a person who has followed John for over 20 years, I don't think I would have any problem working with this horse. And, there were many members of the "old board" who were more interested in training that could have done the same. Bearcat, Eientendo, and Robin ( I forget her screen name) to name just three. I don't post much, anymore, because I'm just not social. I'm much more interested in training. And, sometimes, telling a story or two. Respectfully Terry

In ''my'' experience and only mine, 1st time adopted mustangs have been different than domestics because they have no baggage. They are fearful, timid and curious. They learn fast and learn who they can trust even faster then a domestic that has mental scars. I've only adopted 4 from the BLM though and I'm sure there are exceptions to what I adopted. Boomer was captured a month before I adopted him and gelded sometime shortly after his capture but never acted studdish.
The two studs we had were domestics. One when I was a kid and one my dad brought home when I was 15 years old. He came off the rez and was a mean old horse. He was over 10 and had been used strictly as a breeder. I was a kid then and had no interest in working with him, I was off riding my horse and my dad was going to train him for my sister. BAD mistake! LOL He injured my dad, the lady who bought him from dad and the guy who bought him from her. She was a good horse woman and the guy after her was a horse trainer.
Terry, I thought Bearcat sent her mustang off to be trained?

She had him halter trained at the prison, but I think the knowledge she gained would allow her to start from scratch.

My horse Pancho was about a studdish as you could find! He still is, even as a gelding.
The wrong trainer could have made him into a horse much like Buck. Pancho still is the top horse in the herd!LOL!! Except when I enter the rp. Respectfully Terry

I was thinking he was dressage trained.
I was surprised to find Buddy was low boy in his herd before I bought him because he was alpha from the time I brought him home even when we brought in the last three mustangs. He was adopted at 2 and I bought him from the adopter 5 years later. I'm always surprised when the pecking order changes and they all fall into line.
How long have you had Pancho?

I used to have Hulu in WY but here in MO we're in the boonies where we have what they call "high speed" internet. Really what they mean is you get high speed sometimes and even then you only get to watch 10 min of something and then you get tied up in watching the little circle thing called "LOADING"! Sometimes when we've expired our allotted High Speed time and we get kicked back to slow time I can't even check things like bank balances or my email because it won't load. This is a sore spot for my SF because he gets crabby without his internet. LOL
My sister does NetFlix too, she was crabby for the 3 months she lived here before moving to OH. The video rental lady should have really liked her though.
I don't watch a lot of movies. I have a couple dozen my sister gave me I haven't watched. I do like to watch/ listen to the ID or 48 Hours or Redrum type of shows while working on my art because it's noise, I don't have to keep up on what's going on, and I can't work in the quiet. If I put in a movie I have to keep rewinding to see what I've missed.

I got Pancho in 2003. So, he and I have been together for 10 years. Although I did "start" him under saddle at 3 years old. he only had 2 10 min rides befor I let him sit and grow up for another two years befor "I" ever got on him. So, I'v only been riding him for less than 5 years. Terry
