Royal settled in well and no issue with him. Malone is getting better. Doesn't have a hissy fit when Royal's brought in and he isn't but still throws one when he's brought in and Royal isn't. Working on it. It's better but still has a long way to go.
V - I very much understand that most boarding stables run with just a shoestring of profit and hay prices like this make that shoestring become less or disappear. However, when my rent is raised because of hay prices and my horses still aren't being fed properly, then it's time to move them, which I did.
The hay wasn't the only issue. Her husband doesn't work, they have a huge tractor and he was to blasted lazy to do anything with the lots unless someone (mostly me) made an issue of it. Then he'd run across the top, wouldn't get down to dirt, and call it good. Would only move the hay ring about once every 3 months so the horses were standing in poop & pee all the time. My husband, who absolutely is not a horse person and knows next to nothing about horses, commented on how bad the lots were. He grew up on a farm and offered to run the tractor and scrape the lots but she kept saying her husband would do it.
Their feet were trimmed Friday and my trimmer remarked on how much better their feet were in just the month they've been at the new place. Still have issue from standing in the poo & pee but at least we're heading in the right direction.
I miss the riding at the old place but, especially after what my trimmer said, I am very sure I made the right decision.
