Since Boomer isn't really worked, and he is allowed to do whatever he wants around here it's hard to actually answer the questions. I don't think I can get a clear personality assessment for him. Maybe we can just name him "Bossy."

I think we're in agreement that increased training and time under the saddle gives them more helpful personalities. Kinda' like us, we're more "mature".

Since the opposite of that would be "childish" yup partial retirement definitely makes one childish. LOL

My friend just told me what Valeroso the Paso Fino gelding did tonight and I'm floored. Valeroso has a thing for playing with poly-electric fence lines and has taken them down before. Tonight he disassembled the line (lucky there is some high tensile he can't remove. Anyway, he picked up the electric fence poly line in his mouth and was carrying it around and shocking two other Pasos that harass him a bit (Relen and Raya) (mares vs. gelding). My friend swears the line was live and was snapping away. Either he's a genius or a total bonehead with a high pain tolerance!

Either he had a handle or was grounded some way himself. I know all about being last in the chain from the fence. Too funny

I can totally see that Kirk! We had a boxer who we bought an electric collar for. My x would take it off him and tease him with it and he'd take the end of the collar from him and try and touch my x with it cause he knew it zapped. They both thought it was great fun to zap each other.
Buddy has run through our's twice just because he was upset about me not letting him out before Boomer started playing bumper cars with his butt. I make sure now that he can't get bottle necked into a corner where he panics and runs through it when Boomer gets up on his hind end. The first time he encountered a poly electric fence was on our camp out and he stood there sniffing a mare with the electric zapping him across the chest. I could here it snapping pretty loud too. Mind over matter?

Okay, I read Kirk's post before I was fully awake, apparently. The first sentence I read filled me with dread because I didn't see "what", I saw "that"...and then I thought that the word "did" was a typo. I thought Kirk was telling us that Valeroso "died"!!! My heart sank...and then I read the rest of the post and re-read the first sentence and it became clearer to me! Whoa, wake up, Cyndi!! lol So glad that Valeroso is alive and well, Kirk! What a guy. That's one way to get even with those mares. lol At one barn we were at, the barn owner had one strand of electric fence to keep the horses out of the pasture until it dried up a bit. One strand of live wire is not going to come between Fanny and food!!! lol I don't think he was impressed with her, but the guy was a jerk anyway, so in hindsight I'm glad she did it! LOL Childish, I know. You can imagine me sticking my tongue out in his general direction right now. Valeroso is definitely a thinker, and a very smart horse A couple of years ago when I had Fanny's little dry paddock sectioned off the front pasture with electric tape-type fencing, John decided to put all the horses in that front pasture. There were four yearling Friesian fillies along with the big Friesian gelding and a two-year-old Friesian mare...and Fanny (because I was slowly letting her graze again). There was an opening to get into the dry lot, but at some point during the night the horses went through the tape, but were too scared to cross it once it was on the ground. John went out the next morning and all the horses were standing at the back of the dry lot, shaking in their boots. lol

Kirk, If you give Buddy enough food on his end he's an angel! He is ruled by his tummy though. Cyndi I have read sentences wrong and not caught them till a few posts later and went back. Not going to admit it's OLD age though.

LOL, glad I'm not the only one who has to reread sentences!! I like Valeroso's spunk too. It makes life so much more interesting It's like you can share a private joke with your horse sometimes.
