My aunt and cousins live around the Tomball area, beautiful place. Sounds like a great opportunity if they're picking up the expenses must mean you're a good asset to the company.

When DH was transferred, because he was management, the Postal Service moved us. We had 90 days of temp housing while we looked for a place and they took care of getting our house sold. DH had time off to look at places but I had to work the day after we got into town. I'd worked for the manager of the store before at the other location so I already knew people. I didn't need any training so they just threw me into the schedule.

When we moved to WY the company flew my dad and mom out and then paid a mover to move us but we came a couple wks before the movers with the truck, car and a big one horse TWH trailer. They didn't have our house ready so they put us up in this old rustic cabin looking motel 60 miles away and dad drove for the first two wks. The boss houses were huge, there were two of us kids and with the full basement they set it on, we had a 6 bedroom house. The family room in the basement was big enough for a pool table and full sized movie theater popcorn machine... I always had friends over. Sad thing now, the town is a ghost town and any housing that could be sold is gone, some of the townhouses are still there, others they sold and moved. Went through it Aug of 2013. I've heard rumors they are going to open the mines..we hear it about every 5 years but so far it's just a great place to visit. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeffrey_City,_Wyoming

Ghostrider, that sounds like a nice town to grow up in. Super dry place though with 10 inches of rain per year. At least you had nearly 5' of snow to add some water though and a whole lotta snowballs. Here is where I'm from originally: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pittsfield,_Massachusetts Someone put together a great video showing the town from early 1880's to more current times. Some interesting old buildings. When you see thee Athenaeum, that was our library (named after Athena Greek goddess of wisdom)! www.youtube.com/watch?v=_blYyRWJcXs

That's so neat Kirk and so different from the west!~ The milk delivery horse looks like Buddy. Pittsfield has a lot of rich history and the architect is amazing. I had to laugh when it said they considered 150,000 and under a small town. Our "city" in Wy where we got groceries was 15,000.
It's COLD today, I think it was something like 29? yes in WY we got all our water from the snow, very little rain but we were close to the Red Desert and one of the United States only desert elk herds. When the sun goes down, even in Aug you put a jacket on.

Yeehaw I got my books today and can't decide which one to read first. I'm thinking the vet book and see what if anything he says about fungal infections in eyes? Although the barnyard one looks interesting too. Of course what horse book isn't good right? Thanks Mary

No problem, glad you got them.
The move is happening but I have no date yet.
I am conflicted, I really don't want to leave my home. But I know in my heart it's the right choice. Maybe I can return home one day.

Sometimes it's worth it not to move. I used to get mad at DH because he got tired of one place and off we'd go to some other state and then a year later we'd move right back to WY! URGH it's expensive and you have to start all over buying furniture and house stuff and in the end you just don't get ahead..or at least we didn't. And as an auctioneer he'd sell everything that wasn't nailed down and then some.

Mary, just wanted to say how much I appreciate you sending out these books. I'm loving the John Lyons Book on Horses. Very interesting read.
