All the shady spots are still covered in ice on the roads. All our pipes were ok, I think it was frozen out by the well. The neighbor said he dug down 18" next to his well house and it was frozen that deep. I'm so glad that this is a rare occurence here. It's at least 10-15 degrees warmer up here than in the valley right now. We have sunshine, they have freezing fog. My barn faucet has also thawed so I make sure to top off the waters every day. I've got the hose draped over stuff and drained so I don't get an ice clog.

I use two 100 foot hoses and one 50 footer to water the horses but it's a gradual downward slope to the boys so when I unhook each hose I pull one end up to the house so it's laying straight and downhill but then I blow through each one till I expell the water. If I get ice in one I have to drag it into the garage for a couple hours to thaw. ROYAL PAIN!
Sounds like you were lucky everything thawed for you. They said winter doesn't even start till Saturday.

We are just covered in snow. Period. But it's been right around the freezing mark the past couple of days, so the driveway is nice and clear and the paved roads are good too.
Yep, the first day of winter is Dec. 21st. It's the shortest day of the year, so I start getting excited that after that the days start getting longer. It might only be a few minutes each day, but I know it's there. Then on June 21st I start to get sad because the days get shorter after that. LOL

Tomorrow I don't go to work till 5:30, I may see if the roads have thawed enough for a longer ride in the early afternoon. The storm coming in on Sat can't be all that bad since they are predicting the temps around mid 50's? maybe it'll just rain.
I love snow and love to ride in it but only if there is no ice underneath.

They say we will have winter storm up the northern part but where we are we may have some flood warnings. Can you imagine having enough water to flood the roads in DECEMBER? This is going to be a weird/unusual winter.
