I know it's march but since I'm not yacking about a ride I'll post here. LOL
cyndi, my mom was also in a wreck. She was the second oldest in 8 siblings and her older brother had a hot arab. He could whistle and Trigger would come running up, Uncle Wes would jump on and ride Trigger through the fields to the neighbors without a saddle or bridle. When he wanted to come home he'd just whistle for Trigger. One day after Wes had been riding all day and trigger was worn out he let mom ride him around the back yard and all was well. But a few days later she asked if she could ride him and Wes told her no he didn't think it would be wise but mom threatened to tell grampa so he agreed to let her.
Trigger took off on her and she was screaming and went through the metal close line. It hit her right across her mouth while she was screaming and cut her up pretty good and she fell off. Mom had Polio when she was 2 and some surgeries through 6 or 7 trying to put muscle into her hand and arm so she was more "handycapped" then the other kids.
When I moved here the first two years I didn't have a solar powered fence so to allow them to eat the grass in the 2+ acres around the house I just ran a rope across the driveway. But Boomer would hear mom open the back door and knew she was going out to take goodies to the chickens or cats or to the compost pile...She learned to take the umbrella out in case she had to chase Boomer away to get back to the house. One day I looked outside and saw mom opening and closing the umbrella, opening and closing the umbrella and yelling shoo, shoo. Boomer reached out to smell the umbrella and mom's waving it all around. Boomer doesn't scare. It was funny. She was a bit upset the day Boomer had her fenced inside the chicken yard and she had to wait for him to mosey off before racing for the house. She was elated when I told her I thought I'd buy a solar mobile fence. Of course she wasn't happy about him eating her hostas or resurrection flowers either.
