HS, the truck looks nice! I had a ½ ton Silverado a few years back. It was a good truck. GR, I’ve seen ads on TV for Blu Emu. Haven’t tried it, but maybe I should. I wish I had your talent for art. I would love to have a painting done from one of Risty’s photos, but I have ZERO talent! 😊 It’s been so windy here for about a week now. My allergies are really kicking my rear! I’m so glad the weekend is finally here. Nothing planned, just nice not to have to go to work for 2 days. My sisters living in South Dakota are “road tripping” to AZ. They should be here the first part of the week. Not actually coming to Tucson. The younger one still owns a house in Phoenix & has some repairs to take care of. I’ll probably meet them halfway between Phoenix & Tucson. Looking forward to seeing them. I haven’t seen my older sister since she & her husband help me drive the Ryder moving truck when I moved to AS 19 years ago! Hope you all have a great weekend!

I have never tried to get the expressions on a specific horse, could be hard. I may try to do one of mine one of these days and see if I can do it. Allergies are bad here too although we got some sprinkles today and tomorrow chances of rain are high. That's a long time not to see a sibling, hope you have fun catching up.
HS, I have hang over buckets but put a bailing twine through the hole in the handle and tie them to the panels so they can't destroy them although there's a part of the handle with the rope still on it hanging out on one of the panels so it doesn't always work out.
Glad you got your truck and got to have lunch with family. Summer's coming and then you'll wish it'd cool off! We had two nice days and now rain. BLAH

Today has been a beautiful day. Warm but not too hot. I took Whitey for a walk while DH rode Winnie on the road. She was pretty good considering she hasn't been out for months. We need to get more panels and build our RP again. We used all our panels to replace the corral fencing this winter. It's still too soft to use but we need to get working on it. It's supposed to get into the mid to upper 80's this week. That will really help. Whitey has too much energy for me to just take her from the pen and ride off. It isn't so much that she is bad but she gets excited to go and she goes too fast. She needs a chance to work a bit of the edge off first. She tried to walk nice today but she is such a fast walker that I fall behind quickly. She always outpaces Winnie when we ride them together. We gave the pastor and his family the car today. I think they were a little surprised that it was as nice as it is. Their son was really happy until his mom told him he wasn't going to be driving it. (rofl)They are still trying to fix the car he decided to go "mudding" in. It was a Jeep Liberty with an automatic transmission and not very old. He hasn't been driving for too long but being a teen boy he thinks he knows what he's doing. He got it stuck in water and mud up to the windows and then burned up the transmission trying to rock it out. $4000 dollars later and they are still finding more problems with it. Now they think it has a blown head gasket or it could even have a cracked block. All of them need to go down the hill at different times and to entirely different areas so one working car is just not cutting it. The son is having a hard time wrapping his head around the concept of "you broke it you fix it" and doesn't see why he should help pay for the repairs and help work on the car. He also thinks a Liberty works like a manual transmission Wrangler. Yes it's a 4WD but it's a Jeep in name only. Fine on snowy roads and some dirt and mud but NOT a rig for deep mud or water. His friends should have pulled him out but I don't think anyone wanted to go in the waist deep muck to hook him up.

Maybe if he has to buy his next car or fix this one he'd take better care of it. A shame for him to put mom and dad in the position of hardship. It's really nice today too. It was in the low 70's at4pm when I got off.
Lots happening at work but hopefully the changes are going to make things better. I work the next 10 (after my two days off) all days. YEA!! And the kid with the attitude that's a constant pain at work supposedly is transferring to another store. He got Needs work on all 4 subjects on his evaluation. LOL
I planned on putting the horses down on the front grass, the fence is shared between us and David the amish next door. I was going to mow the pasture and get it reseeded today. I pulled up and mom tells me David came over has a new stallion and said I may not want to put the horses over there till he gets his worked with. UM NO! We mowed the front up high and left the down below pasture long for the horses! So I went next door and told his sister to let him know the boys will be out front on the other side till Wed so he may want to get that electric fence installed over the weekend. I don't have a problem with mine so if he doesn't want his stuck in the fence... He is pretty though, black standard bred with white strip and four socks.
My SF is having an MRI done in a couple wks. They said it's not good and is probably the beginning stages of alzheimers. He did have a head trauma when he was a kid and that can also effect cognitive things later in life. Old age sucks.

GR, an Amish with an electric fence? LOL It just sounds funny. Don't they have any restrictions on owning stallions there? I know here you are supposed to have better fencing and I'm not sure electric would be acceptable. Is this just an addition to keep him well back from the fence itself? I know a few stallions have gotten loose around here and people have gotten pretty upset. No law enforcement really wants to deal with them and most claim another agency is the one you need. The sheriff did tell us that if we felt our life was in danger from the horse, or a bull that was loose one year too, we could shoot it. I'd rather have the owner located to come get it. A friend down the hill has a stallion she is going to geld soon. She wanted it done last year but the vet got hurt and couldn't come do it until after the mud started so she had to put it off till spring as she had nowhere dry and clean enough for him to heal up. Now she is having second thoughts as one vet told her she should just leave him intact and keep breeding him. The problem is she had neck surgery last year and really can't physically handle him or deal with the foals. She said he's a great horse and a good boy but also is all business at breeding time and I'm pretty sure they only do live cover with him. A farrier had a stallion that a 12 year old girl rode all the time for him. He said they had used the dummy for so long he didn't know if his horse would know what to do with a mare. I know a lot of performance horses are stallions and they can work with mares around so it's possible. I just don't want one around me and my girls. Even if he was good I'm afraid at least one girl would be a brazen hussy and try to get to him. I helped a friend one time cleaning stalls for her while she was giving lessons after her swamper quit. There was a really pretty perlino in one stall that was really sweet. Later she asked me to hold a mare while she held the stallion for breeding. She faced the mare into a corner and had me stand outside the panels and hold her lead. She went and got her stallion and who did she bring out? Yep, the perlino.

I give both Bear & Marie about 2T of turmeric at each feeding, so not everyday, but most days. When they eat it their noses turn yellow. Yesterday I made a major mistake at Price Chopper while cleaning 1 of the slicers. Let's just say I am very lucky I remembered to close the slicer blade since I forgot to turn off the slicer! My right arm wasn't cut, just wedged really badly. So bruised & sore but I still have all 5 fingers & my hand. I have been asking my manager to have Saturday's off for the last 6-8 months. I have told her I am suffering from exhaustion, yet if I ask for a day off it gets denied. I decided to give her written notice that I am changing my available hours to Friday & Sunday only for at least the next several months. If she say's this is not acceptable I will give her 2 weeks notice.

V I totally understand. I need two days together off so since Sat is our busiest I had to work most weekends till I became senior in my dept. That's the one reason I don't want to go to another dept. And I won't step up to dept manager because they have to chose to work either sat's or sundays and they usually then have either tue or weds off. One weekend every two months they get a weekend off but it's just not doable for me. Will things slow down now that tax returns are over? Sorry about your accident, hope it heals fast and isn't too swollen.
They do have electric fence chargers, Amos has one that comes into the barn and is plugged into a car battery. They run a generator for part of the day to bring up the water from the well, and do whatever else they need. They also have the solar panel ones like I have. I don't think there's any rules here if you live out of the city. There's stallions all over out here even a little leopard appy pony stallion across the way. Too cute! I'll have to get some pics of him for you guys.
I took the hand mower down the fence line and back up to mow the leaves that blew up against it. Needed to make sure there were no big branches underneath. Then got out the Kabota and mowed the pasture. There are a lot of different weeds and I bought a big bag of weed and feed. Planned on putting it in the pasture but I had an accident and ended up not being able to walk on my leg after I finished mowing. I got off the mower and you step onto the deck, was holding on to the handle and it wasn't secure and kind of got my leg pinned under me and tangled up and screwed up my knee/tendon AGAIN! It was almost healed 100% too. Hoping it's okay tomorrow. I plan on keeping the horses off it for a month while the weeds die and the fescue grows.
I need to take the boys to the vets next days off for their immunizations. Going to put them on Freedom flea and tick tomorrow till the apple cider vinegar kicks in. Doesn't seem to work the first couple wks but by June they won't need the freedom.
