My Wednesday night dinners at the church are done now but DH has me still cooking for a few people. Two old guys and 2 neighbors. There is also a couple in town that the husband has stage 4 lung and bone cancer that I am adding to the list. He finished his first full series of chemo a few weeks ago but things are not looking good although they did say it has not progressed to his brain. He thought he had broken a rib and when they xrayed him they found the cancer. He had no idea he was even sick and if he hadn’t thought his rib was broken they wouldn’t have found it. He’s starting another set of chemo infusions and it takes hours at the hospital and another hour to drive home so any night she doesn’t have to cook is welcome. DH has decided that the last few summers of smoke were too much and has decided that we are going to move. He has his eye on Montana in the Thompson Falls area. I know it will be colder and snowier than here but he says it isn’t a much different climate than what we had in Bend so we’re looking at places there. He has his eye on one that is 30 acres with a 1930’s log cabin and a 3 bay garage/shop with an apartment over it. Every property seems to have a guest house or apartment on it and I’m not sure why. It will need to have a barn built but that’s fine with him. Since the listing doesn’t show a single interior picture I can only imagine the horror of the place. Oh well, I guess it really doesn’t matter.

I would appreciate if everyone would go to my FB page (look up vicki bell olubo) & share my go fund me. You don't have to donate, but the more it "gets out there" the better the chance it would get shared & donations made.
So, It is really important I try to fix this home...& make it as handicapped accessible as possible. Got the results of my back x-rays (been in denial all weekend, but need to wake up now), my entire spine has moderate to severe degenerative arthritis. I already knew my neck had severe degenerative arthritis with bone spurs, but now I know my entire spine is bad. Tomorrow I see my neurologist & will need to set up an appointment for my rheumatologist soon. This is probably why I've been losing the feeling in my legs.

We had an awesome church service this morning. The choir was joined by several Tucson Symphony members. Such awesome Christmas music! I met with a Social Security rep last Friday, and then came home & spent 1 ½ hours on hold waiting for their 800 number to answer. Found out I’m probably not going to be able to retire & make enough to live on. What their website shows me as estimated earnings will be cut by 40-50% because of the Windfall Elimination Provision. It seems my Civil Service Pension will work against me in the amount of SS I can get. According to the girl at the local Office though, I can start drawing in 2019 since I will turn 66 (my full retirement age) during next year. I think I’m going to go back with all my ID information and go ahead & file before the end of the year to start drawing in February. It won’t be as much as I would like, but maybe I can get my car paid off & be able to retire in the next year or two. Oh well, I’ve been drawing the Civil Service pension for 22 years – retired at 42 with 25 years service when they offered early outs. Took a 13% cut in that pension since I was so young, but don’t regret it. Just glad I kept the Gov. health insurance – they still pay 60% of my premium & it’s better insurance than I could have had from any of the employers I’ve worked for.

Thursday we leave for Montana to check out some properties. Not how I wanted to spend Christmas but at least the weather should hold off on the snow. He has decided to pass on the property with the old log cabin after talking to the real estate agent. Quite a few prospective buyers have already passed on it. Apparently it has some kind of a basement that is flooded and the lower courses of logs are rotten. The septic tank is probably an old car body they buried as that was really popular there back then. There’s another house on 20 acres that looks promising. It even has full RV hookups with their own septics. We’ve talked to several real estate agents here about selling this house and it should sell pretty easily. In fact one of them is interested in looking at buying it. I don’t really want to move but if I have to I want somewhere I don’t have to do a lot of work on. DH says it needs to be something he wants not just something he can make do with. We probably won’t put this up for sale until spring or even later if we don’t find what we want. Our town has a population of about 400 people and I have met 3 people who have lived in Thompson Falls and it only has about 1000 people. Kind of strange. We’ll be gone about a week and will have a house sitter for the cats and horses and take the dogs with us in the motor home. Then in February we head to Texas for a month. LMM, we might get to see you when we pass through Tucson. Let’s hope this trip works out better than the last one. I sure hope the snow is gone by the time we get to Texas.

Wow I've missed so much! With Christmas coming up we are busy so it's been work and home and days off are horses chores and lots of sleep to catch up. It's like my life is on hold. One more day and I'm off till after Christmas. YEA.
We had a candle light service last sun night, I'm on kitchen duty this year so the two of us set up all the food for afterwards. Had lots of visitors and it's so nice that our little church has almost doubled this year.
V, so sorry keep us informed on what's happening. Treatments?
HS, Wow where was the log cabin? have a great trip. Take some cool pics I may borrow some to paint.
LMM, I worry about when I will be able to retire too. I'll bet your music at the church was wonderful. We have a family with 12 kids from 20 something to 4 and they sing. They did a few of the carols for us Sunday. They harmonize and sound so good you hate to join in and ruin it. LOL
It's supposed to be in the 60's Sunday and Monday. I wonder if winter will ever hit here, almost like we live in AZ!!!

Well, I filed for SS to begin 1/1/19 - first check will be the 3rd Wednesday of February & every 3rd Wednesday thereafter. Not going to end up with much by the time they take out Medicare & I asked for 10% withholding for Federal taxes. But at least I won't have to get a second job. I don't plan on quitting my county job anytime soon. Really like the work & my supervisor (for the most part) is easy to get along with. He does have his moments, but so do I. Not doing anything for Christmas, just staying home with the animals & resting. I have to work the 24th, 26th, and 27th, but I'm taking vacation the 28th & 31st. Maybe get some good cleaning done! I bought my Christmas present last weekend - a Samsung smart watch. Darn thing is smarter than me Need to get on line & find some good instructions for it. Hope you all have a great Christmas!

I thought it was really cool that the apple watch can tell you where your phone is and vise versa but not sure if I would use a watch, it's still small? not even sure what all it would do or if I were smart enough to learn how. And I wonder how sturdy they are because I'm tough on watches.
I'm not doing anything either just playing with the horses probably. Supposed to be NICE!!!
Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and happy New Years.

Well I’m not moving to Montana but it looks like DH is. He has spent the last week or so “ slapping “ me. Alternating between yelling/screaming at me and laughing at me. I am at the point now where I am having a very hard time remembering anything and he talks extremely fast and jumps all over the place and I can’t follow what he is saying or remember it. When I can’t remember he then speaks down to me and says he needs to do that and explain in great detail because I can’t comprehend simple things. I am living on excedrine and antacids right now. I sure do enjoy a 5 or 6 hour session where he asks if there is any other possible way for him to destroy me or humiliate me. If he can’t find something new he just goes back over the same stuff again and again. Most sentences start with If you would, but I know you won’t, do this or that you could save this marriage you are destroying. He is blaming me for everything that has gone wrong, including his daughter not contacting him in 8 years. I screwed him over by wanting horses and now he has to take care of them and misses out on things. He says I won’t ride with him but by the time I finish getting both horses ready I am usually a nervous wreck because he doesn’t think I move fast enough. I don’t know what is going to happen but he says he’s moving to Montana and will get Winnie later. He’s taking the 5th wheel to live in. I just want to die right now.

Oh HS, I'm so sorry. Maybe you two just need a break from each other? If it comes down to it will you be able to stay there(I know it is a lot of property to take care of), or move into town, or somewhere else? You can always check out Tucson - winters here are awesome even though I don't ride anymore. I got laundry & groceries yesterday. Today, just church & then vegging on the couch with a book & a dog or 3.

This morning he was much calmer and almost back to normal. He has been writing a book and I think it just got him too wound up. He has been really hyper for the last few weeks and not sleeping well. Although he isn’t taking anything new I had a similar reaction when a doctor gave me Elavil. I knew what caused it because it would start about half an hour after I took the pill. Even though I stopped taking it before I could get in to see the doctor she told me I was overdosed on it and accused me of taking more than I was supposed to and wouldn’t believe me when I told her I had stopped them 2 days before. She just told me I was a liar and left the room. I didn’t metabolize it and it kept building up in my liver.I ended up having to check in to a psych ward to get detoxified because she wouldn’t help me. It’s pretty scary when you start a new medication and have a bad reaction to it. I had one where we even had to call the paramedics because my heart was beating so hard and fast. You get kind of gun shy about new medicines after a few episodes like that. He was going to leave everything with me and just have me send him some money each month. He said if it starts again he will have the doctor give him some major meds but he doesn’t want to take them unless he absolutely has to. They are really sedating and we have known several people who have taken them and they didn’t do much of anything while they were on them but sleep. His book is basically finished, I’m doing some editing on it right now, and once it is sent to the publisher his stress will drop a lot. I can manage the upkeep on the place, I have done almost all of it for quite a few years when he was getting his hip replacement. One reason I get so far behind on the housework is that I always have to help him with whatever project he’s doing. He usually gets it started and then he’ll leave me working on it and not come back, or tell me he needs help for “just a few minutes “ and it ends up taking the rest of the day. I get too tired to do all the stuff I need to and he’ll tell me to just do it the next day but it never seems to work out that way.

Well I could say two things, as a Christian woman we are told to go where the husband goes. BUT I could also say let him go test the waters and after a bit maybe he wouldn't really want to live in Montana? So you don't like Montana? or was it just the town he wants to move to? If you tried some of the other towns could you possibly like them? Why didn't he like Lander? I wish you'd have gone to Jeffrey City, not far from Lander (50 miles) but it's a ghost town and you can buy property there dirt CHEAP. What's his book about? so cool!!!
I rode Rain on Monday, we rode the property and looked at how CLEAR the place is getting. I think they took down about a hundred trees. Then on Tues we took Diesel out to chase squirrels. They are misplaced with the trees down and they scattered all over. Diesel slept good that night. The temps were in the 60's and it was perfect. Lester came over to let me know he'd be out of town till after Christmas but they're going to burn the rest of the downed tree limbs for me. WOOHHOOOO By spring I'll be able to fence off some of the area and plant grass seed. I figure the last half maybe before next spring. My plan is two years till pasture land.

There’s nothing wrong with living in Montana other than I don’t really want to leave my friends here. I hate having to start over somewhere new. I don’t like change, I’m boring and not adventurous. This is the house he’s currently interested in and it is really cool. He would want to add another barn to it so he could mess with the girls inside during the winter. Click here The weather isn’t bad there, no real extremes but there is snow. Just not a lot of snow. Right now the temps are down into the 20’s at night but upper 30’s to 40’s during the day and I don’t think they have any accumulation of snow. DH lived in Montana for 10 years. First at Malstrom AFB at Great Falls working out in the missle fields and then up in Lincoln working for the Forest Service. Lincoln is at the top of the mountains and is where the Unibomber lived. His cabin there didn’t have an indoor toilet. Then he worked and lived down in Helena. You would think since Thompson Falls and Plains both only have populations of about 1000, people in a small town with a population of 400 wouldn’t know where it is but I know 3 people that have lived there. Two of them grew up there and they didn’t know each other then. It looks so beautiful there and we really want to get away from all the California trouble that just keeps heading north. The current governor of Oregon is very liberal and wants to “improve” so many things but I don’t know exactly where she thinks the money will come from. All she can do is raise the already high taxes on working people to pay for the non-working ones. She wants to add over $9 billion to education but I think the state doesn’t have enough money for the current budget as it is. With rent being almost unaffordable as it is ($1200 for a studio or one bedroom apt is not unusual) raising property taxes will just drive them up. But she also wants more affordable housing too so I wish her luck with that. We have homeless people camped out everywhere around Medford with the biking/hiking trail along the creek through town being the most popular spot. No one can use the trail anymore without worrying about being attacked by the tweakers living there. They leave garbage, needles, and human waste all along the way. The county does a cleanup sweep through an area, not even a mile of trail, and collect several tons of garbage almost every month. During this last summer they kept lighting the brush on fire either by having an illegal cooking fire or passing out with a lit smoke. Portland got rid of a lot of their homeless problem by putting them on a bus to here. They even gave them handouts with the addresses of all the social services available here. California also sends them here. The 9th circuit court ruled that the police couldn’t stop people from camping on public property, like sidewalks, alleys, and parks so it becomes a nightmare. They have shelters for the homeless but most have sobriety rules and don’t take pets so they also have to open up “warming centers” where anyone can stay at night since it gets below freezing most nights. Children can’t go to parks or even in their own front yards without a parent doing a sweep for discarded syringes. It’s pretty disgusting. I guess we will drive up on Friday and take a look around at property. Google says it’s only about 11 hours driving to get there so we don’t need a lot of time. We have a vet appointment on the 3rd and get the 5th wheel hitch installed on the 8th so as long as we’re back by then it’s good.
