I got a call this weekend from my BFF in WY letting me know about the yearly ride/camp. I haven't been able to make it since moving here so I'm excited that this August I'll be making the trip with at least one other and probably two others. We're actually renting cabins, here's the site if you want to take a gander...I'm so excited!! My ex-MIL lives in Lander and I grew up not too far from there. We've been to the lake there on fishing trips but never a horse/camp out before. louislake.com/I'm already starting my "do not forget" list

Yeah it is a great place it's surrounded by BLM land. We'll have the whole mountain range and lake to ride at. Lot's of moose, mountain lions, deer, elk, wild horses and bear too. Gotta remember my camera.
Anyone know how to find out where you can board horses overnight when you travel?

This sounds like a blast, Denise! I have gone horse camping one time. I'd love to do it again.

You can always join us? it's Aug 8-11, you have a little more time to reserve a cabin and plan a road trip. There's no men and no kids under 21 allowed. It's always been a time to get away from both. You can also rent a horse there instead of trailering yours too.
I emailed two places that do overnight horsey stays. One is a bed and breakfast type and right on I-80. Might be a good place to stop for the night the other is the fairgrounds and I'm not sure if they rent stalls for traveling horses but our fairgrounds in Wy does so it may be an option.

Oh wow...how very sweet of you! I'm afraid something like that is not in the cards for me right now. ;-) That would be one heck of a road trip, but one I would very much enjoy. Thank you so much! Maybe another year!

Wow if that doesn't sound great. We don't have anything around this aprt of the world that even comes close. How wonderful, too: no men, no kids. I'm jealous!

Speckles you could always start one. It's amazing how easy it is just pick a spot even if it's just a local campground nearby with trails and spread the word. Well worth it and I always feel so renewed after a good weekend of horses and friends.

Yeah got it on my list. My list is pretty small for now but I know it'll be 3 pages long by August.
I just got home from town where I bought a shiny new rim, and had my new tire mounted on it. Don't plan on having any tire trouble!
