HI! Just had a talk with the lady who sold us our new place. She is building her new home and barn, and is ready to put stalls in, and had a thought, so stopped by today. Since we have 7 stalls, and only 2 horses, and I rarely ever stall mine, and the most horses I'll ever allow myself to have is 4................should I sell her 3 of the stalls? She has 2 horses now and says 3 is her new maximum, so she's just curious if we'd consider letting her buy and take out 3. That would make room for maybe a place for dogs, or goats, or minis or whatever else we might want in our barn, so dd and I are thinking it over. If we do, what do you think we should charge her? These are nice stalls, factory-built types with revolving hay/feed racks etc. Any input would be nice :-)

Do you know what brand of stalls they are? Perhaps you can find out what they are worth new, and then go from there. The buyer wouldn't be paying sales tax, so that is a break for her right off the bat. Wish I had a seven stall barn

Do you ever plan on selling your place? I mean...I would think 7 stall barn might be better for re-sale? Then again...it would be nice to have room to do other things, so that makes sense as well.

I seriously hope we never have to move again!....so I'm not thinking too much about resale! I will have to search around online to see if I can find what they are and the price.

Would taking the stalls out damage the structure of the barn? If no, then removing & selling 3 would be good financially for you & for the buyer. It would give you more room to store things, like tractors, car...; but the stalls give you a place to store hay/grain/tack without the horses being able to get to it. Make a list of all the pros/cons & go from there!

We decided to keep them! It seemed like she'd have to do too much "undoing" to our barn to get all the parts out, and who knows how long it would take, how many people she'd drag over to help, how many trips she'd have to make with loads to her place, etc. We just might need them someday....we don't know what we're going to use them for yet, but we'll figure out some use! thanks for all your input!

Good point GR. The barn we were just at before we moved is intended to be the guy's 'retirement' income. He has a lot of things to fix up before then, but that is his intention. Your place sounds so lovely, W, I would love to board there
