Does anyone here use an insurance for your travels with the horse trailer and horses? I saw one advertised through RFDTV about 2-3 years ago but forgot to write it down. Two days ago I got a packet of equine flyers in the mail and it had that insurance brochure in it. Funny because I was thinking with my traveling I really need something like it. AAA won't mess with horses or horse trailers. I signed up for US RIder yesterday. It's $139 a year and has a lot of benefits. Just curious if anyone has used them or if you have a similar insurance?

I've never used one but I've seen lots of ads for US Rider. I know DH's cousin could have really used it when she was hauling her horses from NJ to FL just over a year ago. She broke down and although AAA did tow for her she still had a lot of trouble. The repair broke again the next day and she had to find someone else to haul her trailer the rest of the way. She had to leave her truck in SC to be fixed. It took almost a year to get it back only to have it break again. The repair shop put over 270 miles on her truck and will not provide a receipt for the "new" part so it can be warrantied. The part was over $900 supposedly but it looks like it may have really been a used part. I'd really get the insurance if we hauled more than a few miles a few times a year.

I contacted AAA but they told me they would not tow a horse trailer if my truck broke down. Does no good to have them tow the truck and not trailer. I was worried about breaking down between here and Mizzou now that I have to take Buddy back and forth. It's a 144 mile trip and the tow truck will haul it 100 miles with the trailer and I assume horses? It says it'll treat it like a semi. Did they haul your cousins trailer with the horses in it?
They are also looking for people who would be willing to board in emergency situations for those that break down. I'd volunteer but I don't have stalls and I also wonder if a strangers horse might be contagious? even though they have to have a coggins.
I haven't found another "horse and rider" insurance out there to compare this to.

She had to take the trailer off in a parking lot and have someone come and get it. It has been a huge pain ever since. $4000 should get you repaired so it will stay fixed. Others have had trouble with the same guy.

No, her truck still doesn't run. Without the receipt Chevy won't replace the part under warranty and she can't afford to buy it again. She was taking her horses to her daughter because she can no longer do the care physically and can't afford to board them. She had a knee replacement last fall and has a back injury claim with workers comp that they are dragging their feet with. We have offered her a home with us but she can't leave NJ until her claim is settled. Can't work and can't get disability either.

Talk about a rock and a hard place!
Anthony got a lawyer who said his claim is on the list but there's so many claims it's already been over 6 months and that's just to get a date for hearing.
