It seems that Winnie has some small crusty bumps on her chest. The other 2 don't seem to have them, although they may have a few small ones. Her chest is black and the others are a bay and a grey so color doesn't seem to be a factor. They are all out together and haven't been exposed to anything new. Winnie seemed to have more flies on her but I don't know if that is because she has the bumps or if they caused them. DH gave her a good spray with fly spray today. I don't know how to remove the crustiness without opening the sores up or what to treat them with. Any ideas?

NO help here, but they use tee tree oil for a lot of skin things.

My horse gets them when I'm not diligent with the fly spray. It's fly allergies from the bites. Don't pick them or try to open them up. They'll decrease and disappear as time goes on. Just remember to keep on fly spray.

Winnie must be the only one with much of an allergy. It must be the little tiny gnat sized flies. We don't really have much of a fly problem here, and none of those big biting horse flies. They used to get bumps if they ate very many acorns but very few fall into their fields here.

My other horse has no issues with the fly bite bumps, just my one grey. I don't think he had an issue until a few years ago after turning 13-14. Not sure if old age plays a role.
