I hear KC got blasted. The rumor is 3' of snow after a blizzard yesterday. Hopping V didn't lose power? I called in this morn, I'm snowed in. Took over an hour to make it home last night, could only go 25-30 mph all the way home. It's still coming down and it shows we're in the middle of a circulating storm. When I called in Walmart said they've got a black out going on this morn. Went out to feed at 6am and returned to open their gate to the pasture down below an hour later and the temp had dropped and the wind's picking up. BRRR

As you can see Diesel has already been out! he loves to run in the snow. Boomer was annoyed that Buddy wanted to go check out the the crack of a tree limb rather than finish breakfast.

The birds finally woke and came in for breakfast. The red belly wood pecker hasn't shown yet but when he does he's beautiful.

I'm pretty much stuck inside here; there is some kind of power line down in front of my house. Luckily it's not near my car or house, but it is laying across my drive so can't leave until it it fixed. I called a couple of utility co. & a work truck did come out; I saw him radio someone so I hope it gets fixed in the next day or so. If it is still there tomorrow I am calling the city. Major tree damage in the back. 1 limb fell off my tree into the neighbors yard; bounced off their shed & is laying next to it. I saw this happen; about 4 hours later the shed's roof caved in, I'm just hoping they don't blame me & try to sue me for their damage. I took pictures in case they try so I can prove to the judge the limb was laying beside the shed & not on it! Took a few pictures, hoping I can get out tomorrow to take a few more!
We also got more like 8-12" on top of the 18" already on the ground.
Did you have any damage at your place?

No we're good here. I know there's at least one tree limb that came down but we have plenty of those. LOL No power lines here at our house and we didn't lose power, knock on wood. Are you going to get more snow tonight? Looks like you did get almost 3', that's a lot of snow to have to maneuver in. I see some of Mo will but not too much and then the storm is supposed to pass.
I called work around 10-10:30 and asked my boss if they needed me? the power was back on and they only had a skeleton crew so I told her I was going to head that way and see if I could get out of my drive way and down our road to M which is plowed. YEAH! I backed up and slid sideways, tried to go forward and slid some more till finally I slid into the 1/2 barrels of roses that line the drive way. After about 10 min I gave up. Told the operator to let her know I was stuck and wouldn't be in after all. I went STIR CRAZY all day.
Went out twice with Diesel to play ball but man is it COLD. Also the ball hits the snow and stops, doesn't roll. He loves his big horsey ball. I drug a bale of hay from the barn to the horse pasture and threw it on top the new snow over the fence. Guess they can fend for themselves till morning.

It looks so pretty, Denise! Looks like that here too today...we got about 3 more inches overnight.
Hey (hay!).....I went and got 4 large bales of hay from a neighbor, because I couldn't find any affordable small bales and I'll be needing hay until May 1 at least. The horses are not eating it! Does it take a few weeks of mixing (I still have some of my small bales) til they get used to it? I've never had them reject hay this badly before. It seems to be a grass/alfalfa mix, and it seems to have a very slight 'peppery' type smell to it...but no mold. I spent good money on that hay...they will HAVE TO eat it, but it's distressing!

Wendy....I wouldn't worry too much. If you are mixing it with hay that they like better, and they are getting enough of that hay, they will ignore the new hay. Once the small bales are gone, they will eat the other if it's all they have. Horses are so funny. I've had them pick and choose, but once their favorite is gone, they will eat what they have. ;-)

Yep I agree if they get hungry enough they'll eat it. Mine will eat most of a bale and leave the rest to see if they'll have to finish it or if they can find something better. When I don't feed right away they will finally eat the less desirable stuff. Mine are so picky they don't like BROME! oh yeah they'll eat it but it's like giving salad to the cat.

Oh yeah I should have included a pic of my truck STILL stuck beside the parking area at the top of our driveway. SF tried to pull me out but didn't have enough traction on the ice. UGH He and mom took me to work today. I'm off tomorrow so we'll have to get it out tomorrow.
I hear TX got slammed.

It is snowing here again this morning! We already have over 2' on the ground, we need rain to wash away the snow! My dogs have made borrows throughout the back yard, when they are running through them all you see is their heads. The snow is starting to pack down, so the dogs are starting to walk on top of it. That worries me because when they fall through they are pretty much stuck since it is higher than they are tall. Minnie is a little snow plow, but Lola has problems with the deep snow.
Haven't been able to go down & see the horses for over a week. Will be trying pretty soon.

V, it's snowing here too, just started. I don't think we'll get much though since it's supposed to start warming up after tomorrow. The next major snow isn't due till Tuesday.
I'd go nuts if I didn't see my guys for a week, I miss them the first day when I go on vacation.
