Boomer started his "training" today. I mentioned I met a woman who used to run barrels but no longer has a horse. We decided to ride yesterday but the weather was wet and cold so I didn't go over. Today it was muggy and 79' so I saddled up both horses and ponied over hoping she was home. She came out and jumped up on Boomer who showed her his stubborn streak the first part of the ride and his impersonation of an arabian most of the way home. She was good on him and by the time we passed her house heading for mine he was behaving for her.
Sarah has only ridden him twice last spring break and two or three times the summer before that. Since she's moved to OH he's basically had no riding. No wonder he was a PITA today. When we got back here I showed her where the saddle and bridle are kept and the bug spray etc.. everything she'll need to saddle him up and ride. I'm looking forward to having him back under saddle and minding. And it's nice to have someone who knows how to ride and is so close.

I'm glad she sounds so promising. I guess Boomer wasn't expecting someone who would, and could, make him behave. It's always amazing how much some people can get out of a horse. I've always wanted someone who really knows how to ride and ask for things to ride Whitey and find out how much she really knows. She has such a big flowing trot she looks like she could be a dressage prospect and never seems to tire so maybe some endurance or jumping or cross country. I wouldn't know how to ask for any movements so I'm not a good tester. Could even be English Pleasure but never Western. Slow is not really one of her speeds.

Yeah Buddy is all slow but Boomer is like a hyperactive child on an overdose of sugar. He though does not have big sweeping movements he has a bounce like a pony!
