Well, I'll start off this month's postings with happy/sad news. I sold Risty today. I don't know if it has completely sunk in yet. So far I've only told my daughter & the barn owner. I feel good about it because I believe he's going to a great home & Julia (13 YO) is so in love with him after riding & grooming him the night I had my accident. She thanked me for being honest about his age-how cool is that. Yes, he's 23 but got a lot of energy & I think he deserves more than the 2-3 hours a week I've been spending with him. These people have horse property & 1 other horse. An OTTB currently in her last week of 60 days training. Darlene (the Mom) is learning how to get respect on the ground & in the saddle so I think they will be fine handling Risty. I told them I'm available to help anytime. I also sold them my saddle & all my tack. They are coming to pick him up on Thursday. I might try to get out to the barn one night before then (if my rear is feeling better) for a final ride. They said I can come & visit anytime.

I'm not sure if I should say yea or sorry. It' got to be really hard after 17 yrs but probably a big relief too. Do they live close? I love the saying "every horse deserves to be loved by a little girl once in his life." Do they have a rental horse barn where you can rent a horse for a ride when the mood strikes?
Things at work are heating up. There may be some changes at work Tue when I get back. The "kid" who is never in our dept doing his work may not be there or if he is I think he'll be a bit more present. My biggest wish is that they just can him or transfer him to another dept. The guy who cut the trees down and left them and then didn't call or show for the last month came by yesterday. He was sawing a tree at a ladies place and it came down and a branch hit him in the neck. He had surgery and they want to do one more soon on his throat. He also broke his phone and couldn't call us. He cut up a lot of the trees that he'd felled earlier. He's going to finish these three then start in the front of the pasture. He seems to think he can cut a LOT but so far he hasn't even got the first three cut up and he started the middle of Aug. LOL

They are coming to pick up Risty around noon today. I took the day off work. Not sure how well he will load, but I don't plan on being involved. He would pick up on my anxiety and probably refuse to get in. Their trainer is going to haul him (they don't have a truck or trailer) so I will let her take control and probably disappear from sight for a while. Bittersweet. I know he is going to a good home where he will get lots of attention so I have to be happy for him. They have already told me I can come & visit him anytime I want to. Crappy day at work yesterday. One of the people with the same job as mine only on another team got fired. Nothing he did wrong, he was only 3 weeks away from completing his probation period. His boss is a wacko, manipulative, condescending, control freak. Can you tell I don't like her? Nobody on the 3 teams does. Ralph bent over backwards to please her but if he did something one way, the next day she would change the way she wanted it done & be all over him. He couldn't win. Just hoping he finds a new job. He is only about a month away from completing classes for his Masters in accounting. Better get dressed & get out to the barn. I'm going to find someone to take a couple of pictures of Risty & me one last time.

I think if anyone wanted to steal our girls one look at a hay net in the trailer and they'd load themselves. And try to see who could get in first. I'm glad you were able to find a good home for him. That's a worry we have about ours. They are all older and not that well trained. They do fine for us as we don't ask much from them, just don't kill us. People here want so much more from a horse and dirt cheap too. If we had to pay for board we wouldn't have them all. I hope they call you in a few weeks after they let him adjust and tell you how absolutely in love with him they are. Knowing that he is cared for and happy will go a long way.

They had barely got him to their house & she texted me already! Also sent a picture of Julia & him. She can't post anything to FB because of problems with Julia's bio parents. Sent me a picture yesterday of Julia riding him. They have a camera set up to record the stalls & arena. Said he paced the back fence all night the first night so she was going to put him in the stall with a turnout area the second night so, hopefully, he would eat & drink more. Rode him around the neighborhood yesterday & said he was really good. Introduced their 2 big dogs(Rottie & Rottie/Boxer X) to him & said they all got along. She thought he would have been too tired but still was pacing. Hard to tire that boy out! Too Morgany! I told her he might be lonely, hopefully, her other horse will be home in a couple of days & he will be more accustomed to his new surroundings & will settle down. He is a mover though. Even at Royal Star he was not often just standing in one spot for long. I miss him like crazy but feel comfortable with my decision and where he is now.

That is so neat that they let you know. She rode him around the neighborhood alone already? Or was this mom? I'm sure when he gets used to the sounds and smells of the night there he will settle down more and another horse will help. I think Whitey really enjoys time spent without Winnie bossing her. She tends to stay a little away from the others in the pasture but sure doesn't want to go out alone.

It was the mom who rode him around the neighborhood. I'm sure once he gets used to the new sights, sounds & smells he will settle down. He's got a good mind-too smart sometimes. Are any of you able to register with the Post Office & have them scan & e-mail to you daily what they are delivering? Seems like a lot of work on the part of the P.O., but I sure like knowing what I am getting in the mail every day.

I'm not sure about our PO because it's rural but my Mom is going to. She doesn't think her carrier delivers all the mail each day. One day we were looking for a package and we caught the carrier on the route before he got to their boxes. We asked about a package for her and although he didn't have one for her there was one for another resident. That package didn't make it into the box for almost a week even though we saw it in the truck. She also has stuff that come monthly that shows up at all different dates. DH would go nuts if he couldn't go to the PO every day just because there wasn't any mail.

I don't get much in the mail, vehicle insurance every 6 mo and county tax form every year plus horse catalogs and very little junk mail. I may get three or four catalogs a wk. Most of my orders come UPS or FedX.
I've been reading your FB about Risty. Has he always been at that barn since you got him? I get to WY an extra day early because for the first night they say a horse won't get rest because of the other new horses around him. Risty will settle in after a few days, awesome she rode him around already.
As of today I have 1 closing shift the next two wks. None this week. The kid who is the butt is awful upset I guess he closed his availability so he didn't have to work closings and they scheduled him 18 hours this week. When he complained they told him he'd have to open his availability if he wants hours. He worked an over night shift Thurs. He's got one tardy or misses one more day and he's history anyway. I just hope he sleeps in on a day he works! No one likes him in our dept even the dept manager I don't know why he doesn't transfer out. He disappears and no one knows where he is and J the dept manager complained to her boss and they told her she needed to go locate him then and bring him back. Like she has time to go find him every 5 min?

GR, No, he has been at different barns & in my backyard at several properties over the years. I haven't heard from her since Friday. Resisting the urge to text & ask how things are going. I had to do 3 things for the supervisor from HE## last week. The first two (3 identical transactions, just different dates) were fine. The 3rd one she rejected because of the way I attached (electronically) the backup info. Huh? They were all 3 attached the same way. I told my boss anything she sends me needs to come through him and I'm sending it back to her through him. What a pain! All four of our team members have requested everything come from our supervisor. We want nothing to do with her directly. I'll help her team out now that they are short handed, but it's going to come from my supervisor, not directly from her. She has had to attend HR classes, been coached, etc. She will be ok for a couple of days and then right back to her evil ways. I seriously wonder if she has some neurological problems or something.

Smart, that will protect you from anything she can accuse you of. She sounds like one of our managers. My boss calls her something not too nice. LOL
We went to a Mexican place after church that sucks! mom and SF like it but the food is never hot and the enchiladas aren't even covered in red sauce they smeared a bit under the enchiladas then covered with a ton of lettuce and a piece of tomato. YUCK not going there again.
Decided to tackle my tack shed. Pulled EVERYTHING out of it, cleaned off all the bottles of stuff and then hosed it out. I had ant trouble twice recently but was still surprised to find an army of the little buggers behind a board between ceiling and back wall. And they were just all over. Sprayed them dead first then hosed they all out. I don't know how to keep them out so I got a can of that spray foam and hopefully sealed some of the cracks they're coming from. Will put another dozen ant traps inside. Took a really long shower didn't think I'd ever feel clean again.

GR, I call her Spawn of the Devil, only 1/2 jokingly. So glad I'm not on her team. I HATE ants! I've used Amdro and Sevin. Both with some success. I had a text from Darlene (the Grandma/Mom) this morning. Said Risty has calmed down some but still pacing when he is turned out. Julia(Grandaughter/Daughter-they adopted her since her bio parents are druggies- was out braiding his mane & just hanging out with him. Darlene said he was kind of sore from being worked more than he is used to so they are putting him on Glucosamine. I'm glad. They seem really anxious to do the right things with him. She said she is so happy Julia can go out & mess with him & she doesn't have to be there with her. Julia rode in and out of the arena yesterday and up & down their cul de sac. Said they put a neighbor's 5 YO granddaughter on him & led him around & he was a perfect gentleman! She said "such good independence & a confidence building for Julia." I'm so glad things are working out!

That's nice that they're careful with him, I have Buddy on Corta-flex, LOVE IT.
WMart took all our hand helds, and printers yesterday at 4, we're missing a lot of them. They're making the "electronic lockers" we get them out of so that only the department managers for their dept can get them out and they'll have to turn them in. OKAY so the associates will no longer be able to do price changing, missing labels, counts, freight if we don't know where it goes etc... hope they hire a few more department managers to work on days the real one is off or on vacation etc..

GR I'm sure they will check them out to employees to do the actual work. Can't have a DM working now can we?đ I'm not surprised there are a lot missing. I find them laying all over the local WMs and I always think how easy it would be to really wreck someone's day by taking it. We had cards we had to put on the charging cradle for the scanner we were using so they knew who had them and all of them had to be accounted for each night before we could leave after closing. We were a smaller store but it was also when those things were fairly new. I can remember having to search for a scanner at night more than once. We only have one fire still causing trouble but it isn't real close. Today we had some rain and the elevations above 4500ft are getting snow. Now the fires are out of control in CA. I watched some of the news showing the fire in Anaheim Hills. Those houses are $1M+ homes. Although I lived in that general area I didn't live in THAT kind of neighborhood. There wasn't much up in those hills when I lived down there. Santa Rosa, Napa, and Sonoma Valley are really getting hit hard. They are having bad winds that are spreading the fires like crazy. I don't know where you could go to get away from all these fires we've been having without heading into something else. My friend that moved here from Vegas went to visit her son last week. 3 people that she went to school with for ultrasound were killed at the concert. She wants to get her son out of Vegas and he is signing up for the Army. He wants to do Military Police and I guess he'll be leaving for Camp Lejune in about 2 weeks. She was going to be back in a couple of days but now she's going to stay until he leaves and help him get things taken care of there. He has about 6 months left on his lease but a copy of his Army contract will take care of that. I hope they teach him how to go to the mailbox and get his mail and open it. He avoids it in case there's something he doesn't want to see and it gets him into trouble. He had wanted to enlist before but his controlling GF wouldn't let him. They broke up and I think he's finally realized how much she ran his life. Haven't been feeling so good for the last few days. I think it might be the change in the weather. My whole body aches all day and night. Not very fun. Got to see my brother and his whole family on Saturday. I think he realized how long it's been after I sent him a message that we spent about 5 hours in the ER with my Mom the week before. Her blood pressure dropped really low so the caregiver sent her in the ambulance and we met her there. She had some teeth pulled earlier in the week and wasn't drinking enough water because everything tasted like blood. She is fine now and as her mouth heals she is able to drink and eat soft foods without the bad taste. Monday night the lady that we had been doing the TPN infusions for this summer called and asked if we could take her down to the ER. Her home health nurse had drawn blood for some tests earlier and the Dr called as soon as the results were in and told her to go down to the ER as soon as possible as her magnesium was dangerously low. It was a 1 and it should have been between 2.5 and 5. She said she hated to ask us but she didn't know who else to call that could drive at night. Remember to keep some younger friends when you get old so someone can drive at night. She got a small IV of magnesium and we ran down to Wendy's for a snack for DH and brought her back FF and a Frosty. Yesterday we delivered a washer and dryer to 2 people in town. I got my new set and since these still worked we asked around and found someone whose dryer was on it's last legs and someone else who needed a washer. I know them both and was happy to give them to them instead of having Lowe's take them. There are so many people in our town that need things but they won't let you know that. I asked them if they knew anyone who could use these and it turned out that both people I asked were the ones in need.

Well, I couldnât be happier with the way Ristyâs ânew peopleâ are working out. I get at least 2 texts a week from Darlene telling me how he is doing. She now has her horse-OTTB-home & after letting Risty & Joy get acquainted through a fence, they are now sharing the turnout/arena. The barn has 2 stalls but Iâm not sure if they are locked in separate ones at night or not. Today she told me that she rode Joy & Julia rode Risty around the neighborhood. She said âJoy did fabulous, Risty always doesâ. Made me feel good. She said Risty is now the boss when he & Joy are together and sharing hay and âJoy never sharesâ. Said Risty is getting lots of attention and eating well again. Iâm sure having another horse there helps. She said Julia could not be more proud of herself & Risty. Guess I did something right the last 17 years! Iâm glad I could make a young girl (13) happy with my horse. My daughter never has been comfortable around horses & I would have given anything if I could have had a horse at that age.
