Boy, you can tell your area is going to pot when they are giving lessons and Handing out free naloxone at the county Library. They seriously were doing that. Opioid addiction is rampant here. All the law enforcement officers have carried it for over a year now and now it's being made available for the general public. So if someone you love is an addict and overdoses you can try to save them before help arrives. A friend of mine ended up doing CPR on her son who was not breathing and turning blue the night before the memorial service for her husband who had just died in a car accident. Today he has completed his residential treatment program and will be living in a clean house with others from the program and start looking for a job. They have regular meetings and drug tests and after he completes his time there will go on to a place of his own. It's sad for his mom that he will be living so far away (a couple of hours) but she understands that for this to be successful he can't live in this area where his friends are as they would just try to drag him right back down. Funny thing is, you can get the naloxone free to save the life of a drug addict but epi-pens for allergic reactions cost a fortune. Makes you wonder about their priorities.

I hope you all are having a good weekend! GR, are you working on Black Friday? I have the day off but don't plan on being anywhere near a store. I might do a little shopping on the internet or maybe wait for cyber Monday. I want to get my daughter the 8 qt Instant Pot for Christmas. Hoping Amazon has it at a good price. I'm doing a 6.5 lb turkey breast in my Instant Pot for Thanksgiving. The directions (from the IP website) say to put it under the broiler for 10-15 minutes after you cook it in the IP to brown & crisp the skin a little. Can't wait to see how it turns out. I might miss the wonderful smell of the roasting turkey though.

LMM, mom got a recipe book for slow cookers/instant pot cooking in town and it said you can't put a whole turkey in one just the leg and thigh. So they tried it and said it was AWEFUL. Anthony said it was really dry and mom made turkey and noodles with it yesterday. She said in the soup it was okay. It didn't say to brown the skin or anything. I think she needs a book on just instant pot.
I work both Thurs and Fri but we are having our black Friday on thurs starting at 6pm. They'll be unwrapping at 6, 8 and one more later time maybe 9? Only thing I want are the 1100 count hotel style sheet sets.
HS, can't figure out how our country is in debt? yeah ask the common person and we can direct them to their stupidity spending. We were talking about China's opium dens and Jim said in China they execute them in the evenings, users and pushers both. Crime there is punishable by what they consider to be 10 times as harsh as what you did. I think the US is way too lenient.
I am beat. Put the stuffed turkey in at 1 pulled it out around 5:45 this morn, made gravy and went to get ready for church. Went out to give Buddy his eye drop and yup Rain is in the round bale area and the electric wire is still up. OKAY he did the same thing Fri night...I think he's jumping over it. So after church and two nights of very little sleep I had to come home and put up a more permanent fence around the round bales. I swear next summer I'm just going to make a totally permanent enclosure for the hay. After I rolled a bale forward and put up the fence Rain had the nerve to eat at the RB for a couple minutes then walked the perimeter of the fence looking for a way in. HA it's two feet taller now and has two strands!
Matt and family came to church and had dinner with us, had a nice time.

GR, have your Mom do a search on the IP Community site for turkey. So many people have done breasts or even whole (small) turkeys and are so happy with the way they came out. Not dry at all. The recipe I have for a 6.5 pound, bone-in (I'm going to thaw it in the fridge first) breast says to cook at high pressure for only 30 minutes and natural pressure release for 10 minutes, then a quick release until the pin drops. Can't wait to try it!

GR it sounds like you need deer fencing for your RBs. It's like 8ft tall . Another choice might be a second wire perimeter a few feet further out to make the jump wider, like oxers in a jumping arena. He's not very sleek but maybe you could make a hunter over fences mount out of him. Now wouldn't that be fun. Getting ready to lock the girls up and out of the pasture. It's getting soft out there now. The 15 year old boy who lit the Columbia Gorge on fire this summer by throwing fireworks along the trail has been charged. His mom says this is traumatic for him. Like it wasn't traumatic for all the people that had to evacuate their homes, the hikers that were stranded over night on a trail because they couldn't get out, and the animals that had to flee from the 75 square miles he burned. The aren't releasing his name to protect his family because of all the hate comments to every article about the fire. People wanted him locked up and doing community service for life and for his parents to be responsible for the costs related to the fire. Tempers run hot during fire season.

Our beloved Gandalf left us today. Last night he wouldn't get up to go out and wasn't interested in his food bowl. This morning he was just laying there with his breathing shallow and labored. He wouldn't open his eyes and never regained consciousness. We went to a friends for dinner and when we got home he was gone. I am so done with everything. I can't take any more.

Gotta love Amazon! I ordered the 8 qt Instant Pot for my daughter for Christmas. Ordered yesterday (Black Friday) it was about $50. off. Was to be delivered to her in Omaha on Monday. Just got a text that said it would be delivered today! Great service and great price!
On a different subject - I've been thinking about changing my avatar (is it possible to also change my login name) now that I'm "horseless". I don't want to mislead people having them think I still have a horse/ride, but don't want to trash his memory either. Any thoughts?

LMM, he'll always be yours even if he doesn't live at home! But if you want to change it you could as Mary to help you change it? Yes I reminded her today that she can use the website, she did make some nasty ribs in it yesterday. She came up with some weird BBQ sauce made out of ketsup and Worcester. I give up!!!! LOL
HS did I see a post about a new dog from the pound? I scrolled down and lost connection and then it wasn't there. So sorry about Gandalf but looks like he went in his sleep. He had a good life I'm sure and if my animal goes in sleep I'll be grateful.
I ended up getting two sets of sheets, nice and so silky for cotton. Love them. It was a tiring week though and I'm grateful to have days off. I got The trough set up for winter, didn't drag out the electric cord yet but the heater and all are ready and in the trough. I put up cattle panel and fencing to separate Buddy through the winter. He HAS to lose weight so he'll now be locked in during the days with access to the water trough, RP and the one stall run in. I thought it'd be better for him to have access to the RB during the nights when it's coldest. I cut all their grain in 1/2 about 2 months ago but it hasn't helped. Tried to lock him in at night but then two of them didn't have access to the corral with the run ins...hoping by spring he'll be down a hundred pounds and it'll keep the arthritis at bay.

GR, there wasn't another dog, just a mention about him being the only dog at the shelter that didn't bark when we were looking at them. He just smiled and waved his tail at us. We went back the next day and he still didn't bark and we decided that was the one for us. He rarely ever barked and when he did everybody knew it was important. The neighbor's would even call to see what was going on.

GR, it was Gandalf I was talking about. It was part of what made him so special. We had thought of getting another big outdoor dog in the last few years but we felt it would break Gandalf's heart to think we didn't think he could do his job anymore. So we just moved him inside at night to protect him mostly from himself. If anything did come around we knew he would not back down and run away just to save himself so we made sure he wouldn't need to. We go tomorrow to pick up his ashes, he'll be spread on his pasture where he loved to lay and watch everything going on. When the grass is dried and brown he would look like a lion on the Serengeti.
