We're almost a week into February and our weather has been dry and very mild. Some days are in the 60's. It doesn't look good for the snow pack and water for summer unless we get dumped on soon. Several ski areas are already closed for the season and were only open for a couple of weeks. One of our friends is having quadruple bypass surgery this week as soon as they can get it scheduled. Last year he had both carotid arteries cleaned out because of almost total blockages and had hernia surgery too. At no point did they do an echocardiogram or they would have caught the blockages in his heart. They wouldn't let him come home until his surgery is scheduled since anything could kill him easily. It's going to be a long week for them waiting for the surgery. We've offered our lift chair if he needs it while recovering. I know a lady here who has a half sister of Winnie that they used as a brood mare. She has a gelding that is a great nephew to Winnie that she has just sold to be shipped to GA to compete in dressage. They have several other horses that are related too. DH has found a stable that does vacation care for horses and is busy deciding where we're going and when. Too bad I don't get any real say in it. I really don't want to travel anywhere and if things go on as they are I will end up needing to drive the whole way. I'm tired of living on the edge of a breakdown with no help in sight. I have to hold everything together because DH does nothing for himself nor would he take care of me or the animals. I am so very tired.

had a huge reply and logged out without posting it! realized it after I hit the X! I was saying maybe you could get sick the day before? or compromise and tell him he drives and to prove it you take a non drivers id with you and leave your DL at home so he can't pull a slick one and you end up doing all the driving. Maybe you won't get too far from home that way. LOL
Schedule screw up means they gave me 6 days off on the newest schedule so now they are going to schedule me some hours in other departments. COOL for me. I would love to check out other departments like Dairy.
Winter months are not over there is it? This is our main winter month and next month will be worse than Nov/Dec. The boys are not even thinking of shedding. It's been in the 50's for two days but of course since I have Sat and Sun off it's going to snow. Supposed to start tomorrow and we are supposed to get 6". Hope it doesn't start till after 10pm when I get home. On a good note I got paid for all the vacation hours I didn't use in 2017....WOO HOO I got more on this check and had two extra days off...too bad it's not always that way. First check in March we get out My Share payout and my tax break bonus of $300! I will have to change my 401K for that pay period and throw extra into that account so that I don't lose it. That will put me into a higher tax bracket and the Gov will end up with it instead of me. Plus WM will match it so I'll end up a lot further ahead. Someone at work changed their dependents to 99 to avoid being in a higher tax bracket for this pay period. LOL

I don't have a non driver ID and I don't think he'd care anyways. The man cannot heat a frozen burrito for himself. There are still several things to be fixed on the motor home before we take it for much of a trip. Maybe for a weekend to find out what else is wrong with it by now. The horse trailer is a bit of a stinker right now. Every thing seems to be working except the electric brakes. It's probably a wiring issue as the plug end is an old style round plug with round prongs and needs an adapter to plug into the big round socket with flat terminals. We hauled some firewood in it once and didn't bother to hook up the cord since it was really close and the plug drug on the ground and wore some of the insulation off a couple of wires. It really needs a new plug end put on it so we don't have to bother with the adapter but I don't really want to do that myself. It gets frustrating because someone has to be in the cab to work the signals and I don't work all that fast. I need to find a way to get power to the brake activator so I can hear if they are working. I guess I'll have to crawl under the trailer to trace the wire from the brakes. They worked good before on two different trucks and I installed them myself. It just seems like all my wiring goes bad at once.
Our weather has been really nice and it even hit 77 over on the coast one day. Rumor has it that we will be getting some rain this weekend with snow for some higher elevations. A lot of the smaller ski areas are already closed. I helped that lady get her horse shipped off the other day. She needed someone to make a video showing the condition of his legs and body when he was loaded into the trailer to prove he was fine when he left. He was such a pretty color and so soft looking. He was really good but was a little hesitant about the ramp into the trailer. He had never used one before. J finally got him to put his front feet on it and the driver was tempting him with some alfalfa. He was totally stretched out like a standardbred trying not to get his back feet on the ramp. He looked so funny. He finally gave up and walked on up.
Our friend had his quadruple bypass surgery today and it went well. He's going to be there for a week so we'll probably drop by tomorrow to see him. He was totally out of it today and after the surgery was over and they let his wife and daughter see him they went to go eat and go home and rest. He was still out when they left but they told them he would be out for 5 or 6 more hours so they decided to leave. The lady we helped last summer with infusions after her cancer treatments had to be air lifted to the hospital Tuesday. First we heard it was a stroke but it was actually an infection in the port that the infusion tubing hooks to. Then last night they had 2 medical calls within 10 minutes up here. One was a roll over accident on the highway and the other was a fall off a roof. They had the helicopter come for the guy that fell off the roof, which requires the fire department to be at the landing zone and they also had to be at the accident a couple miles away. Stretched our volunteer fire department pretty thin. Everyone except the driver of the car ran after the accident and hid and then were back this morning looking for the drugs they lost when the car rolled. Monday we had a tweaker in the town park throwing around machetes while there were kids there. We have just been a little hotbed of crime the last week with 2 wanted guys picked up the day before. Ah, the simple country life.

One of the girls at work lost her BIL yesterday and J my Dept manager almost lost her BIL this week. We had a lot of stuff happening here too, must be the weather?! Too bad about the lady and the port. She's had a lot of bad luck. Quadruple sounds PAINFULL!
I am so blessed to have a guy who does trailers fix whatever needs done and he's always cheap for me. I think he knows I am not rich, LOL. He sometimes just charges me for the part like $5. He did my trailer hitch and the wiring on the trailer etc.
Well looks like you're going on vacation, at least maybe it'll be 5 oclock somewhere?
They called me to work on Monday and then gave me a full week on the week I did have 6 off. I'll be in SG's one day and Lawn and Garden the other 4. Should be fun I like Lorrel.
Rain needs trimmed and I don't want to wait till the other two need it so we'll be going to Lesters at 10 tomorrow for a trim then I'm going to help mom put blinds in her room and move an end table out and a new book shelf in to her room.
One of my valances came today but I'm still waiting for the other which I ordered 5 min later after thinking one wouldn't be long enough, then decided I didn't like the lace panels (after getting the first valance) with it so ordered the drapes that match the valances tonight. It's the Karen Maki Wild Horses set. Love it and it'll match both my horse comforters. I'm taking down the dark drapes, putting in lighter breezier curtains and letting in the sunshine and waiting on spring. I have had too much time off, I have cabin fever!

It's been raining for the past 24+ hours! We really needed it. When I saw the forecast yesterday morning, I grabbed my bag if citrus fertilizer & sprinkled it around the 2 trees in the backyard. I don't think it will help the orange tree-it's pretty much dead, but the grapefruit tree is still producing like crazy. It was just a nice steady rain that soaked in really well. So glad we have a 3 day weekend. I plan on spending most of it on the computer trying to get the new one set up like I want it. Cox is coming out Saturday to hook up the internet. I'm fed up with CenturyLink & the super slow speed they provide with the DSL line. I am going to have to buy out the last 9 months of my contract. I love the DISH TV, just wish they weren't bundled with CenturyLink for internet. I can't even think about filing my taxes until I get a decent internet speed (unless I go to the library). I think I'll probably have to pay in, at least the Federal. Might get a little back on the State return.

It was BEAUTIFUL here today, breezy this morn and gusty by afternoon but low 70's. Boomer is shedding already! can't believe it. I took Rain to Lesters for a trim and he was a total joker. I really didn't name him according to his character. First he was looky all over and when the dog came in to the barn he wanted to play with it then the two little boys came in and he was super interested...LOVES kids. Then he kept sniffing and playing with all the tack on the wall where he was tied so Lester had to tie him short. The whole time he's playing around he kept trying to take his foot away. Then I guess he decided he didn't like being tied short and untied himself so he got retied better then when Lester told him to give him his foot he had to move all the other three first. YEP that's how the trip there and home worked too. He had his trailer tie hanging from his halter when we got there and then backed up and pulled himself loose before I could shut the trailer door to leave so he ended up loose but locked in the front half of the trailer. I swear horses must go through their terrible two's when they're 6 in humans years.
Mom had things she needed help with so I put in two sets of blinds in her room and helped her move furniture out and in to her room. One of the blinds had been returned and has three broken slats so I went ahead and put up the hardware but will take the rest back and exchange it tomorrow. Hate it when customers lie it's not like we wouldn't take it back but it sucks to be the next customer who buys broken stuff and then has to make another trip to town.
It started raining here a couple hours ago, hard downpour twice which sent Diesel under my desk. Glad you got rain there, grapefruit sounds so good wish I could eat one. I like Direct TV but we have the Verizon internet. Can you get just the tv without the internet? you can here but you get a better deal with the two.
I did condition Boomer and Rains mane and tails today then took Boomer for a walk, it was still awful muddy for riding but maybe it'll dry up by Sun or Mon? Rains got mane hair all over the fence where he's been sticking his head through and he's missing a lot of it right in the middle of his neck...UGH

We got a dusting of snow last night. It's supposed to stay fairly cold with snow again Sunday. The winter we didn't have. Oh well. We need more snow in the mountains and it usually stays above us. Our friend, N, is flying to GA on Monday and we told her it only snows when she's gone. Her son joined the Army and is graduating from Boot Camp at Ft Benning next week. He is the only one in his squad that has finished and passed all the requirements so they actually graduated him already and while everyone else is retrying different portions they failed he has been working as a guard. When he is done there he goes to Texas for combat medic training. He's doing real well and seems to like it.

HS; I'm sorry your DH is forcing you to go on "vacation". It won't be much of 1 for you. I hate to say it, but situations like yours is why I've been happily divorced for over 30 years now. I hope your friend heals up well. I had a friend who had multiple heart operations, he had so many they finally told him they could do not more & he retired to Las Vegas....at 50. I decided to live out his last how ever many months he had.
GR; I miss working the garden shop at K Mart. I wish I was healthier I apply for the garden shop at the Wal-Mart in town here, but I know I couldn't physically do the work.
The cold no longer seems to bother Bear, so he hasn't been wearing his blanket the last couple of weeks. That 1st cold snap hit him hard & he was so miserable, I don't really understand it. I was talking to another boarder & was telling her that now I think he may have been sick & running a low grade fever, but had no other sick symptoms. It's the only thing I can figure out as he was shivering so badly & just looked so cold & unhappy.
Marie has been doing well. The turmeric seems to be finally helping her & she is running & bucking again. If she runs to much she is sore, but at least I think she is finally doing better. The vet seems to think she'll be good for 5-10 minutes of walking several times a week so I'm hoping I can ride a little bit this summer.
All my small ones are doing well. My Hairy Potter had to have his teeth cleaned & a couple of teeth pulled. Dumbledore needs his teeth cleaned also, but that will have to wait a little bit.
Work has been real stressful; every 3 weeks we have to prepare for the govt to shut down. Which means even if it is a day off I have to go into work by midnight, reset my voicemail on my phone, my auto message on my email, print out my proof that I work for the govt & wait to see if we shut down. If we get shut down we have to leave the building immediately & if we don't get shut down I have to reverse everything I just did. And since we can't get paid for OT, those of us who drive there on our off days do it on our own dime. Regardless of the fact that it is a 1 1/2 hour drive 1 way for me!

HS there is a lot of guys running around town this last week with their uniforms on they must have been graduating or going in soon? not sure where our nearest military base is here, I think Ft. Leonardwood. Hope he likes it cause he can't just quit. LOL
It snowed here too about 7-8 am just enough to hit the ground and turn to rain. I hear Mon is going to be rainy but I'm not sure about tomorrow. I am hoping to do SOMETHING horsey tomorrow before installing blinds in Jims room and the front room for mom. Rain is bored, he tore up another fence. Wish I'd had a camera posted out there today. He actually removed a T post from the ground, and the whole t and cattle panels were moved over 12 feet and still standing. HE is such a pain.
V my body hurts today, every thing out there is heavy!!! I could not do it permanently. Even in WY the horses never had trouble in the cold but one year here I found Boomer shivering. It was weird because he had shelter, hay and it wasn't as cold as Wy gets. I put his blanket on him but he's never gotten cold since. I wonder if it's like people, sometimes you just get a chill. Glad Marie is doing well. I don't remember the govt ever actually closing do you?

I don't remember the govt ever actually closing do you? The govt closed twice this year; once for 3 days & once for several hours. We are on our 5th CR, because trump refuses to sign any budget or immigration resolution brought to him. The 1st closure there was a bipartisan senate committee that he gave a list of demands to, they were to come up with a bipartisan plan & if he signed off on it they would send it to the house for approval. They came up with a 2 year plan & he changed his list. That was the 2nd CR. They again came up with 1, he again changed his list, 3rd CR; they again came up with a budget, he again changed what he wanted; That was the 1st shut down. The republicans on the committee gave an interview just before the shut down that they would refuse another CR because it was obvious that trump didn't actually want a budget, that it was obvious he would refuse to work with any democrat & that it was just impossible to reason with him (each gave a different reason). After the shutdown was over & we were on 4th CR they finally came up with a budget that covers part of the govt for 2 years, but he again refused to sign anything that included a budget for several depts., including ours. So out 5th CR ends Mar 23rd.

My master bathroom is decorated in “horsey” items. Shower curtain, rug, toothbrush holder, etc. Got them from Amazon. I have a leather picture my Dad painted & mounted on a piece of old barn wood. It is HEAVY. I would like to hang that somewhere in the office/second BR, just not sure how to do it. The wall I want it on is slump block so holes will have to be drilled & I don’t want to risk cracking the wall by not know what I’m doing. I also want to hang my spurs and a couple of bits next to it along with an old Home Interior brand picture that reminds me of the song “Ghost Riders in the Sky”. Wish I had the money to turn one of Risty’s photos into a painting & add that to the grouping.
Yay – I have decent internet speed again! Cox got their modem installed yesterday. CenturyLink’s speeds averaged about 1.3-2.5 mbps. Cox is showing 34+ with the same number of devices linked. So much for CL trying to tell me my new computer was the problem! Still need to call DISH & cancel the internet & find out what it will cost to buy out that part of my contract. Not done giving them a piece of my mind to pass on to CL, I know it’s not DISH’s fault the internet part of their bundle is so crappy. Never again will I have CL! Now I have to get to work on my taxes & find out how much I owe!

I love the home interior pics, I think the one I have of the girl standing in the corner and her collie by her side is H.I too but not sure how to tell. Are they out of business? I couldn't find anything online about them. I have somewhat cemented walls? downstairs. I was told to just drill a hole with the cement bit then anchor and screw. I've done a half dozen of them in my room and the room next to mine. I was scared too. And the bit does not go in easy either it was hard to get past the first smidgeon. Maybe one of the guys in the neighborhood can help or at work? Our Internet is somewhat slow too right now, must have used up all our high speed for the month. I can't get Days of our Lives to play longer than 5 min. Watch for WM's specials they have them now and then and having a photo put on canvas is pretty reasonable. I'd like to get a good one of all three horses together and have one pic made in the 16x20. Harder than it sounds. I'm going to do the sink/shower down here in horses and the family room maybe but not till Anthony gets his apartment. They said 18 months so only 12 to go and believe me we are ALL ready for him to be on his own.
I couldn't figure out how Rain took out a t post because he lifted it up out of the hole. WELLLLL he WATCHES everything I do and when he sees me going under the poly he must have tried it lifted his head, back up where the poly was tied to the t post and the fence where I had it over the trough. There was like a three foot section of poly but shesh it was like less than three feet from the ground and in an X and 5' tall! how he got down that far with his head to get some kind of traction is a mystery. And that that skinny poly didn't break but actually pulled the t out in the frozen ground? Anyway I put another T and cattle panel all the way to the tank so if he takes out those T posts now I'm going to make so much money off Houdini I won't care.

I guess you're going to have to get the screw in ground anchors like they use for metal buildings and attach your T posts to those. I bet he couldn't pull those out. Now if he learns to unscrew them there's no holding him. We finally started getting snow. Got some yesterday morning, it's mostly gone, and more coming tonight. We have had a rash of threats of school violence in the area and my niece in Carthage, MO had to go pick up her kids after an internet threat there. All of them have been kids and the ones here have been arrested. I guess they think it's funny and a way to get out of class for the day. I know they were doing finals at Carthage and kids wanted to know if they would still have to take them if they went home. Makes it seem like someone wasn't prepared or didn't want to have to take their final.

Kids in my school used to do the same thing. And it was a small school/town. They never found out who did it but we always got out of classes for the day. Yeah I am going to find things to hang up around the corral for him to play with and keep him busy. Also going to buy a better stronger poly fence come spring.
It rained here this last week so much we still have ponds across the roads. Rained a little yesterday but things are starting to dry. Wanted to ride so much yesterday I saddled up and rode down the driveway, couldn't find anywhere dry enough so rode back up and took the saddle off. LOL
