Since it's halfway through the month I guess it's time for a new thread. We have had a mix of snow, rain, and sun, sometimes all in the same day. Everything is still muddy and squishy here. Haven't done much of anything. DH and I have both been a little under the weather. We have been feeling so exhausted and never even do anything. Not sure what the problem is. DH went to the doctor a few weeks ago and wanted to change one of his meds, his antidepressant, for one that has been shown to help with neuropathy. Our doctor has it set in his mind that DH needs something for mania no matter what he goes to see him about. It is a struggle to get him to address the problem of his feet giving him so much pain. DH does his own research on medication and knows what he would like to try but the doctor was only concerned about controlling mania. If that was a problem we would ask for that. It's hard to be manic if you can't even get off the couch. Since he has lost all this weight some of his medications need adjusting but the doctor seems to just jump past that. It looks like we will be changing doctors soon. There's an office from the same medical group that is way closer to us and our friends go there and like it so I think we'll change.
Did anyone else read about John and Jody's new venture? They have converted one of their ranches into an indoor hemp farm. They have it all set up in one of the indoor arenas and are going to expand things to include a clinic and spa. I don't know who got him to go listen to information on the benefits but he has changed his opinion about it and is embracing it as a new career. With all the injuries he has sustained in the past I'm sure this is a much better option than opioids for his aches and pains. They kind of skirted around the THC component and talked more about the CBD aspect of it but the THC has good properties too. Their daughter in law, Julia, who is married to Michael, shared the article that appeared in a Colorado newspaper. They have a training facility in NC where she is from.

Oh my HS, glad you caught the February to March thing. I completely spaced it off! I hadn't heard about John & Jody's new business. If that is what they want to do, I hope it works for them. When I worked for the cancer Dr. in Casa Grande I had a medical marijuana card. Never used it though. It was for my arthritis and the Dr. paid for the card, & everything. He was trying to get a license to open a dispensary. Don't know if he ever did. I let the card expire after 1 year. It was too expensive to buy at the dispensaries. Now, working for a Government entity, I'm not sure how it would be viewed.

Mom and I were talking about hemp the other night and wondering how they got hemp but not marijuana? She said she buys hemp seed at the homeopathic store because they have great health benefits. Mom made SF change dr.s because she refused to take him off stuff even though what he had needed them for he no longer had it was like once they got you taking them your on them forever period! New doc has him off a lot of them.
Matt showed up yesterday while I was at work. Going to camp in the woods the weekend with Tiff and kids. On the way here she was driving and he reached over and grabbed the wheel wouldn't let go and they went into a field and broke a fence. They then were followed by some guy and Matt told her to stop, he got out and went to the driver and told him to quit following him and got into a big argument and told the guy his brother had a lot of weapons and wanted nothing more that to use them on someone and if he didn't quit following him something would happen etc..
So I worked till 10 pm last night, up at 5am to go back at 7 today. At 2 Anthony calls me to tell me Diesel bit Matt and they're on their way to see me and go to the dr or hospital... Long story he started drinking when he got up, so never sobered up and decided to ignore all my instructions to leave the dog alone and when mom said she needed to let D out to potty he said DRUNKENLY no grandma you're not going down there I am I'll let him out! Comes back in 5 min later with half his top lip hanging down and also a flap between eyebrows. It was really, REALLY bad he got over 20 stitches half his lip was tore off and hanging down to his bottom lip. It tore right at the line between lip and face.
He got down on the ground with him was aggressively in his face roughing up his fur on his side and told grandma he leaned over to "kiss" him. As aggressive as he's been to the dog when he's drunk I'm betting he was holding him down and trying to put him on the ground.
So I left work with Matt Tiff and mom and took him to the walk in and they sent us to the hospital with just one look and the dr there said he needs a plastic surgeon! he's out of town for the weekend. He wants to tell them it's a stray dog and I said NO we will tell them it's my dog and he has shots! and if they come get him they do. I won't have him given rabies shots thinking it's a stray. He kept telling them it was a grizzly bear then he'd tell them it was my F-ing dog or mom's F-ing dog and is it illegal to kill a dog etc... he was such an ASS! We are talking to the police and the dr and trying to get him some psych help but if they don't SAY they're thinking suicide than they'll do nothing...After an hour tetnus and an antibiotic pill they sent us to springfield to the other hospital and had the paperwork all set up for them to take him immediately. YEAH so we get there and he needs a cigarette first so Tiff went in and gave them the paperwork and there's 4 people at the counter and one of them were waiting on a couple who stepped up inbetween Tiff and Matt coming in so the lady told him to step back till she was ready for him and he goes off just as nasty as can be and she simply says to him "we don't HAVE to wait on you if you can't be civil!" he then throws another fit and says he's not staying and walks out.
We sat there and didn't move. I guess he'd told grandma he didn't live far away and would walk and she said she wasn't leaving she didn't want that on her conscious. They told him at the first hospital that if it wasn't treated he'd end up having thousands of dollars of plastic surgery needed after it got infected. So he came back in and then agreed to be treated.
Tiff said she was leaving Matt at moms when they showed up yesterday she's tired of his crap and he's abusive so she said she was going to leave him. Could we keep him for awhile? I told her no he's not welcome here with his drinking and pot smoking and we have no room anyway. She said she thought that after he was treated she'd let the police know he has a warrant, and for the couple days they hold him she would have time to pack and leave. We told her we'd stand behind her decision but when she told me I'd need to do it I told her nope he's your husband and you'll have to decide. So they came and arrested him after he was stitched up by the plastic surgeon.
When we left Springfield they weren't sure if he'd be bailed out or WY would extradite him. Then he called to say the bail was $750 and cussed at her on the phone cause she hadn't gone to the station immediately.
The kids had all the camping stuff by the van ready to load up when we got back and 20 min after that she calls from Humansville to tell me she got stopped by the police. Oh yea the guy following them was the property owner's brother who got their license and made a report. So she told him it was Matt who grabbed the wheel, she told us she thinks he was trying to kill all of them...and the cop is calling in his report so they don't let him out on bail. He's going to be charged with endangerment of minors and threatening that guy.
It's been a really crappy two days of BS I told Tiffany once he's sober I'm going to tell him not to come back unless he can do so without drinking! no more coming out three sheets to the wind OR with a cooler full of beer, thinks I don't notice when he's drunk.
Diesel was in such a fit when I came home he knows, KNOWS he is in trouble. I can't blame him for biting him but I'm also not happy that I have a dog that's bit someone. I don't know what to do. I've tried everything for his protection mode and was making progress and then Matt does this and it's back to the beginning. I just want to cry.
I am grateful for the surgeon, Matt looked so good, lip was still swollen but it looked really good.

I saw the computer post. Is he bragging on his download speed or does he want us to tell him how to lunge it to improve it's behavior? I am so sorry about Matt. They have made it so difficult to get someone treatment these days. At least a 72 hour hold and evaluation should be easier to get. That's the problem I had in AZ when DH had all that trouble. There it takes a court order to have someone held. By the time you get that who knows what could happen. My friend had to revive her son several times when he OD'd on heroin. She finally got him into Serenity Lane about 3 hours from here. He is doing well now, has a job and is clean, but he can't come back here to live because he knows his old friends would get him back into drugs again. I wish they could help Matt while they have him but that isn't likely. They can sober him up but until he wants to change he'll just go back as soon as he is out. The same friend has her ex son in law sitting in jail right now facing manslaughter charges for a DUI. He hit a car with an old man driving that made an illegal u-turn in the middle of a road in front of him. First they said there wouldn't be charging him for anything and the family even said the old man wasn't supposed to be driving. A few weeks later they arrested him and he's been there for several months now. I hope the authorities take everything into consideration when they investigate Diesel. It wasn't his fault if he was being messed with. Even sweet little rat dogs will bite if they are pushed too far, the damage just isn't as bad. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you.

GR, I’m so sorry about the issues you are having with Matt. I can’t imagine the stress you are under and poor Diesel. Really, he was just being a dog and now in trouble for it. I haven’t read the post in the general section. Guess I’ll have to swing over & look at it. I’ve got today off for Cesar Chavez day (we get to pick one day in March). An advantage, I guess, to living in a predominately Hispanic area. I made a trip to Costco yesterday after church. Wanted a nice beef brisket but theirs were so HUGE & over $40. Guess I’ll have to settle for some hamburger. Church has been packed the last 2 Sunday’s. Wish we could get that many people there on a regular basis. Darlene had another accident with Risty last week. The saddle has slipped twice now. The first time she ended up with a bruised tailbone. This time she landed in some rocks & now has staples in the back of her head. Helmet time! I don’t know what’s up with the saddle. In 15 years of riding in it I never had it slip like that. Just glad she is ok. She was very pleased with Risty’s behavior. Said I did good training him for the last 17 years as he just stood there & waited for her.

LMM, is she using the same pad too? If they are riding him a lot more than you did his shape may be changing and she may need something different. Maybe just a different pad. When you went to visit did she saddle him so you could see if she was doing it the same way you did and placed the saddle in the same spot? Maybe she needs to warm him up a bit and retighten the girth before she hits the trail. I always have trouble with getting the girth tight enough without cutting the horse in half and giving enough room without it sliding. Risty is such a good boy to stand there and wait for her. Probably wondering what she's doing down there, Mom didn't do it this way. Whitey stopped one day to let the little girl riding her fall off before she continued on home. She made sure the girl was clear of her before she left. She was just done with the day. For me she came back and inspected me while I laid on the ground when the berry vine pulled me off. We are such a confusing species. I agree she needs a helmet. If you fall on a soft surface it's not too bad but the real world has all kinds of things on the ground. Logs can have sharp branches sticking up and trees do too. I worry about branches stabbing my head as well as falling on something since most places here are forested.

HS, Yes, she is using the same saddle pad. I'm glad you suggested that about his shape changing. I had wondered about that & if it was even possible. After she fell the first time I went out to show her how to use the cinch tightener & found that she had taken off the breast collar. I told her that with his low withers the breast collar helped keep the saddle centered. She did have it on the last time she fell so I don't know if she just isn't getting the cinch tight enough or if maybe she does need a different saddle. She mentioned that if she had a horn to grab she probably wouldn't have fallen this last time. No horn on the Aussie!

My Aussie has a horn but I don't know if it would help if the saddle shifted. Does the breastcollar fit like a western one or like an English one that goes up over his neck too? There are also grab straps that go across the front and attach to the d rings. They stand up a bit so you can grab on. My saddle has billets on both sides and will take a dressage girth but I also have converters that let it use a western cinch. Sometimes the buckles are just hard to work with. Maybe try putting the saddle on without any pad so you can see the fit better and see if a shimable pad is needed. The white towel test may be something to try too. Place a white or pale towel or sheet under the pad and saddle as usual. Ride around a bit to get a little sweat going and then unsaddle and check the sweat pattern on the towel. It will show where the saddle is actually touching his back. I hope she gets it figured out, I know saddle fitting isn't near as much fun as saddle shopping. I have 4 or 5 different saddles but I don't seem to be able to get out and ride. I like to start out in an enclosed area but all I have right now is the dirt roads and trails. I know Whitey will want to run and she gets going too fast for me if I don't lunge her first to take the edge off.

Ouch I can really relate. I have a problem with my left shoulder. They said it was arthritis but they only did a regular x-Ray. I got shots in it for several years but the dr that did them has moved to Utah. He used an ultrasound machine to find just where to inject it and it would help a lot. He gave me exercises to do, I think they are the same as for impingement, but I never did them. He gave me a band to use to do them. It hasn't been as bad and I didn't want to get too many of the shots so by the time I thought of getting another he was gone. They have other drs there but I really hate new drs. He was one of the 2 out of 3 doctors I had that are now gone. We might end up changing our primary care dr. He is over 45 minutes away and the same group has an office about 20 minutes away now that has a full lab and is accepting new patients. Our friends go there and they like the dr there. It's almost across the street from Walmart where we get our prescriptions filled so it's much more convenient. I have been feeling very tired, weak, out of breath, and over heated and might need to change my prescription. My current dr hasn't been very helpful to either of us. When DH went for his foot nerve pain he complained about extreme fatigue too. The dr had no suggestions but DH researched his current meds and his statin drug for cholesterol has side effects that matched most of his symptoms. He stopped taking it and felt better the very next day. His cholesterol has been good so he will see how it goes. Shouldn't the dr have known the side effects of the drugs he's prescribing? His main concern was that DH isn't taking anything for the mania part of his bipolar. If you show any emotion other than flat he thinks you are going manic. DH had been researching meds for his nerve pain and was requesting a change of med to address that. It happens to be an antidepressant and he wanted to change his to that one. It gets tiring to try and get something to help one problem when your dr is only concerned with another one that hasn't even been a problem for years. I hope you aren't having to deal with any problems from Matt. You don't need that stress especially when he doesn't want to change. My friend has her SIL in jail right now. His original charges included DUI and manslaughter and had bail amounts listed. Today I checked to see if he was still in and the charges had been changed. Now it is criminally negligent homicide and no bail. It is very sad as he is still pretty young, under 30, with a 4yo daughter. The old man he hit was making an illegal u-turn in the middle of the block right in front of him. The family of the guy even told him that the old guy shouldn't have been driving. Now his life will be destroyed if he is convicted. He'll be in prison for a very long time. I hope you have a good Easter and that Anthony is helping with the horses.
