Happy November everyone! Finally cooling off here - had to run my furnace this morning. 48 outside and around 65 in the house. I just can't take being cold I've been using a space heater in the bathroom after showering for a couple of weeks now. Yep - a wimp!

We had our first snow yesterday. Started around 9:30am and snowed till evening. If I'd been watching news I'd have known but Sunday afternoon when mom said it was going to snow mon (3") I was surprised. I had just put the heater in the tank a couple nights before but had not gone to town to get grain, mineral and salt blocks...was not prepared for icy roads. UGH I don't mind the cold but the idiots who drive in the storms. Anthony and I went to town Sunday evening after mom warned us about the pending snow and I got everything. I think we got two inches and the roads to town this morning wasn't too awful. Not sure what the high today was but yesterday it was 18'.
So funny when I got home at 5:30 tonight Rain was at the gate in the corral, where he gets fed and the other two were at the panels in the RP where they get fed. Maybe they were wanting grain to warm themselves. They've eaten almost 1/2 the RB in a wk! The next one I may start shutting them out in the daytime. They are just pigs.

I wish we would get snow. Wait, what did I just say? Yep we sure could use some snow or rain. We had a few rainy days but it went right back to dry and has stayed that way. We have not had much impact from the Camp Fire in California other than some high level smoke. For the last 6 weeks or so we have been doing a free spaghetti dinner on Wednesday night that DH and I have sponsored at our church in town. We have covered all the costs for it and only hold it at the church because they have a good kitchen and fellowship hall. It’s been pretty well attended and then DH and the pastor delivered meals to those we knew of that couldn’t get there. Last night was our final night and we changed to chili and cornbread for it. A lot of people seemed interested on the FB post I did but very few people showed up last night. Everyone we had talked to in person wanted chili night but then they didn’t show up. Pretty disappointing. One of the ladies from Bible study had said she would bake some cornbread for it but I’m sure glad I didn’t depend on that since she never showed up with it. I did cornbread muffins at the church. All along I had 3 or 4 ladies that showed up in the afternoon to help with the cooking, set up, and clean up. Last night I had 1 lady (85) show up to help me set up. My regular couple showed up to serve but no one else came in. I was so glad the chili only needed to be heated and not cooked like the spaghetti and sauce. I have to go in this morning to scrub the pan I left soaking last night. I understand that from now on DH wants me to cook on Wednesday nights for several of the older bachelor guys that we were feeding and he’ll deliver it from the house. Lucky me. He has done none of the work for this project and left it to me to take care of. I am so done with this.

Tell him its too much work. Mom finally had to give up her "Share your Christmas." She's filling this years bags but one of the other ladies is going to take it over after this year. All the churches are given the age group and how many signed up then they go through the "drive thru" at the church, give their ticket to the guys who have us bring the shopping carts to their cars with toys, care bags for the adults and food. Mom sits at the table and as we bring the carts through they tell us the age and we get a bag of goodies for that age. Mom has the young adults this year so the bags for men have stocking hats, shampoo, socks, tape measurers..kind of neat. Not sure what all but the ladies are getting hand lotion, candles, socks, a cook book etc.. The kids have a wish list and they get a bicycle or a skateboard whatever the parents have listed. They also get donated things like stuffed animals. It takes two days for all the people to drive through with their tickets. Mom's 80 and it is just too much for her anymore.
I can't imagine doing something like dinner every week! We do provide dinner every three months for women and kids who are in a home hiding from abusive partners. They have it at a random church and we are not allowed to tell anyone where it is. All the churches take a turn and it's never at our church but usually in town. We are about 7 miles outside of town.

The gate way into the horse corral and the 1/3 of the RP by the corral are muddy. Not as bad as it was a wk ago but I can't get to the tack shed without stepping in mud. Now if the tack shed was on the other side of the RP!!! I may get some help in the spring and move it. I don't mind the snow and when the ground was mostly froze the path to the tack shed was great. It's the mud for a wk after I hate.
I decided to call in this morn. Just was so dang tired so I slept till 11 and felt good when I got up. I need to buy vitamins, I've been off them for a month and I'm just so tired all the time. Going to buy vitamins, B12, D3 and CoQ tomorrow.

HS, I think I would be tempted to tell him he helps with at least 50% of the shopping, prep, cooking, and cleanup or forget it. No more being the great guy who delivers it, gets all the thanks, etc., while you are doing all the work. Its’s been rally cool & windy here. Actually have been running my furnace a little every morning & at night. I turn it off during the day I was going to call in yesterday, but then our HOA board meeting got cancelled & I had a lot to do at work so went in. I’m about ready to scream at my boss. He loves to pick on another accountant & me, criticizes and picks apart everything we do. Instead of doing something once I can spend ½ a day on a simple spreadsheet. If he has something he wants changed he sends it back. I make the change & send it to him again. He finds something else he wants changed so back it comes. This goes on 3 or 4 times before it finally gets approved. I guess I just have to put up with it. Can’t retire with full SS for another year!

LMM, it would be worse to have him shop with me 🤣. He can’t stand shopping and gets too impatient. He has gone with me but since he can’t find his way anywhere down in town if he had gone on his own I’d still be waiting for him to find his way back. He’d have eaten all the food he’d bought 🤣. I did find a lot of good stuff at the food service store. It’s open to the public and several people I know get stuff there. They have good meat as long as you can cut it yourself since it comes in the big uncut bags.
I’m just glad it’s over with. It was getting old shopping on Tuesday and then all day at the church on Wednesday. Lots of Thursdays I would have to go in and finish washing pans in the morning. Freedom calls.😂

I've learned where I work you just say OKAY even when you know you can't get something done. It's easier than explaining that you can't get a two hour project done when you leave in 15 min or that you can't because of it just being impossible. I sometimes have three managers telling me to do three things.
Would love to have large bags of meat I could cut to my own ways. I always did my own wild game.
I got home last week and there were three HUGE trees down at the front of the property by the road. One black walnut and two were oaks. Amos asked to cut trees for wood and mom told him yes, he knows he's supposed to cut them out of the woods not our front yard and had the guys cutting them in the woods then for some reason had them move to the front and cut thee of the ones by the road. MOM IS PISSED! she drove down and gave him an ear full and today had me go down and tell him he is not leaving that mess for a long amount of time. He was apologetic but why would he do it? looks like he's ready to haul them off to the lumbermill and I know dang well he knew he was supposed to cut in the pasture not the front yard, he's been told and told and not to leave the mess cut it down and take it with! UGH But they also cut a lot of them in the pasture which is GREAT. Which is why I keep letting him come over. Maybe not anymore though.
