I'm looking for some suggestion for new authors to read.
I like sci-fi/fantasy but not the techie kind & mysteries. Don't care much for romance novels except on the occasional basis.
I've read all of Jim Butcher's books, also have read Goodkind, Jordan, Briggs, Evanovich, Cornwell, Francis, Brooks, Scottoline, and many others. Not much of a James Patterson fan, used to read all of Stuart Woods but those just turned into the same old/same old like Patricia Cornwell.
Anybody out there got any suggestions? Now that Mother Nature has remembered what winter is suppose to be like around here, I'll be spending more time inside.

My sister just gave me the Terry Goodkind Seeker series. I've read the first 5 and am on the 6th book. Ordered the next three from Amazon. Was surprised they were really great. I love Dean Koontz. Have not been too thrilled with Steven King the last 10 years or so, liked his earlier stuff though. I bought some of the sale books at Walmart and honestly they were only so-so. I did buy Cowboys and Aliens and enjoyed it although on a 1-10 scale it only hit an 8.

Yeah I've read all of Goodkind's books. Just finished the last one "The Omen Machine" a couple of weeks ago. I was a little disappointed in it. Not bad but not up the the rest of the Richard & Kahlan series. I would give it only a 6, maybe 7.

Good to know. I see there's some kind of short book along with the series I'll probably order with the last two books after I finish the next three.

I've read all the Nevada Barr books and lots by Beverly Conner. Our very own DreamQuest (Jennifer Becton) has a book out, "Absolute Liability", and another on the way. ;D Carol O'Connell is good too, I'm reading her latest right now.

I hear the Game of Thrones series (now a series on HBO) is pretty good. Piers Anthony is good - I really enjoyed the Incarnations of Immortality series (starting with 'On a Pale Horse'). Spellsinger by Alan Dean Foster is also very good. If you like alternate history, check out Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith or 11/22/63 by Stephen King. If you want something really out there, try 'Pride & Prejudice & Zombies' or 'Wuthering Heights & A Werewolf & A Zombie'

I recently read Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, it was very good and is the beginning of a series, might keep you busy for a while as they are long reads. I also like Patricia Briggs, her Mercy Thompson series but it is fantasy/with a bit of romance. Werewolves and such but I still really liked the series. Good luck.

I read through book 3 of the Outlander series and stopped because they became just to repetitive. Have read all Patricia Briggs books and like her very much. Recently bought the first Game of Thrones book but haven't started it. Have read some of McCaffery's & Rawn books. Will check out some of the other authors listed here.
