Thanks Kirk Her muzzle, with the tan colour, makes her look a bit like a mule. lol She used to get really bright in the summer, but now she stays a darker bay. In the winter she looks black, and her coat stays nice and shiny. I wonder if she stays a darker bay because she gets ground flax seed and kelp as part of her supplements. I should post some summer photos of her from a few years ago, compared to last summer. Her coat might just be staying darker as she ages, too. I'm sorry I haven't done that assessment yet. I've been lacking energy and just can't get around to doing it.

If you want her to stay darker they have a supplement for that or you can just add papprika to her feed.

Cyndi, Really no hurry, if it's months from now, no problem! I could always request the book through inter-library loan and see what I come up with too. Hmmm... if you add paprika to feed won't you get an orange horse lol!

I used to give Buddy paprika for his grey points and dapples. It brings out all the grey in his ears, around his eyes and kept his dapples darker then I got tired of messing with it and let him change to flea bitten spots! UGH should have bought stock in the paprika industry. I never gave it to Boomer because I LOVE the coppery color he turns in the summer. And he gets dappled too. Actually I still have three of four full unopened bottles of paprika in the tack shed I should throw out. I'm such a hoarder!
Two days off and tomorrow my hit 70. I need to take Sarah riding either tomorrow or Tues.

I don't give Fanny those supplements to make her coat darker, I just give them because of the good they do for her health She is such a sweetheart, I wouldn't care what colour she is We had beautiful weather today, too!! And tomorrow is supposed to be a repeat of today It was close to 50 degrees when I was with Fanny. I had a t-shirt on with a light fleece jacket on top, and a windbreaker on top of that, and it was the perfect temperature. That is supposedly the perfect temp for horses (50 degrees), and I can see why.

I got the paddock all cleaned, been at it two weeks! all the old hay piled around the trees and the ground will be perfect for a riding ring. I think my ring will have two tall oaks in it though(no low branches) I want it about 80' and I'm going to see about RR ties for the outer perimeter. I'll take a pic tomorrow and see what you guys think?
Started out with black skies, wind and rain this morn so went to Walmart with mom. At noon it was windy and the skies were turning blue but the amish next door was burning and our woods and property was filled with smoke. BLAH At 2:30 it was about 65' but breezy, so I worked till almost 7 in the pasture where our riding ring will be. I have 6 or so burn piles of leaves to burn soon as the wind stops blowing and plan to call around and find some RR ties. But my area is ready for the ring! woohoo
Told Sarah she can saddle up Boomer and ride tomorrow in the paddock and anywhere on the property she wants to ride. If it's nice I'll saddle up too will have to wait...now they're saying rain.

Sarah has not been able to ride so far so we're skipping church Sun morn to ride. Called E to see if she and her two daughters want to ride with us. I don't work till 2 so I figure 2-3 hour ride in the morning should work. Mom is talking about leaving Mon morn to take Sarah home, SF says he needs to be here when the amish put the new windows in the garage so he isn't taking her home.

Well we do pray before we mount so all we have to add is a song or two the Lord would appreciate! I was thinking of riding tomorrow instead but I haven't surveyed the damage yet. We had a tornado set down about 5 miles from us, all I could see when I got home was branches and lots of water.
