My closing in Tucson has been delayed for a day. The buyer wanted to reschedule for the 31st but we told her the 28th was the latest we could go. Any later & we would be risking the pay-off not reaching my lender in time & then I would have to pay interest for another month. My daughter & I looked at a house last week. Neither one of us really liked it, viewed it the first day they were showing and by the next day it already had an offer. I guess I'm going to have to move fast when I find one I like in my price range. The price range is part of the problem, fairly low and a lot of first time buyers & those of us downsizing are looking in that range. I'm so thankful my daughter is here to look with me. She has noticed some things that I didn't see. We looked at one yesterday that isn't really on the market yet. A little brick, 3 BR, 1 BA, no basement, attached single garage and an awesome fenced back yard for the dogs. Waiting to see what the price will be. It has a new roof, AC and water heater. The lender I'm working with bought it & is flipping it. The redone inside looks nice, minimal kitchen counter & cabinets but it would be doable. Bathroom has a "barbie doll" (really small) sink. It will depend on the price if I make an offer or not.

Well we got all our hay in. We ordered 12 round bales and they weigh about 1700lbs each. They even delivered them. Super nice couple. We pushed them in our barn with the tractor and I think they were bigger than the tractor. Miss Fancy decided that she couldn’t stay healthy so she developed a big lump and abscess on her jaw. We thought it might be a tooth problem and it wasn’t going away so we had the vet out. He didn’t find anything in her mouth and he lanced the oozing spot on her chin. Irrigated it good and started her on penicillin. It’s been oozing and looking gross and I’ve been cleaning it as well as she will let me. Tonight was the first time I could actually see the wound itself. I irrigated it with betadine real well and sprayed it with Veterycin. I think it’s looking much better but DH just thinks it’s so goopy and bad. It’s funny because he was a nurse but can’t stand to work on the wounds. I’m the one who has to worry that I might pass out if I see my own blood. I can take care of the animals but get a bandage on my owie right away so I don’t see it. DH has been giving the penicillin shots and she doesn’t even seem to notice. I know I have always noticed them because they hurt! She has been a good girl even though she really doesn’t like me messing with her face. We are feeding her a special senior feed because we thought it was a tooth and she was having trouble chewing. I bring her out of the pasture and feed her separate from the others and since she needs time to eat I’ve been brushing her while she eats. Her old dull coat is shedding out and she is looking good. The vet even asked if it was the same horse he brought out to us. She lets me halter her without problems and at first she would try to move off and avoid being haltered. I always make sure she gets something for being haltered even if we don’t do anything. She comes up to us in the field every time we go out there. Her leg is healing nicely although it remains larger than the other. She doesn’t have full flexion in that pastern yet but doesn’t seem bothered by it. She will follow whenever someone is riding and trots and canters around just fine. She got her hooves trimmed last week and they look good now. They were so overgrown and chipped up but she hadn’t been able to hold them up for quite a while. Everyone else is doing fine here and we have finally been out on our boat. Our friends that moved here too had 2 accidents involving deer. S works an hour away from his house and works 2pm to midnight. He was driving his wife’s car and hit a deer on his way home one night. Took out the passenger side front fender and dented the door. They got that fixed and he was driving his car, which was a Honda CRV we had given him 2 years ago when he was the pastor at our church and his son tore up his car, and hit another deer and totaled the car. It was a nice little car, makes me sad it’s gone now.

LOST MY POST DANG IT!!! urgh awful that he hit a deer twice, once would be bad but twice? ouch Did the vet say anything about Fancy getting into foxtail? It can do right through the mouth and out the jaw leaving a sore. Boomer got one once it was like a black callous spot on the tongue about three inches long and across on the cheek. I burned the RB and gave away the other it was mowed and baled by a friends husband who has horses and didn't know about foxtail.
Glad you have help looking at houses, two eyes are better than one. I like a large kitchen but not picky on the front room or bedroom. One of the things I can't put up with though is neighbors who have unruly kids. The ones who like to come and go or sit in the drive with the boom da boom da boom crap or the ones having parties in the yard ever weekend cause mom and dad are gone. Houses have to have some room between them too. Don't want them playing soccer on my siding etc.. Or hitting the bball on my car. We've had some really crappy neighbors. One that we had in our old trailer park had taken all the paneling and insulation out of their home and put in a basket ball hoop (short one for kids) and the kid played ball all day all night till midnight sometimes. He told us his kid was really good and one day was going to be pro. He was really good too, he was like 3 yrs old. You could hear boom boom boom all the time because they kept their doors open all the time, their house was hot because of no insulation. It was just metal siding no furniture, they all slept on the floor with blankets.
I ordered one of the shoulder relief cinches I'm anxious to try it out. A couple times when I cinched Rain he acted like he was going to pass out! So I'm careful about not cinching tightly but the cinch rides a bit farther forward on him than it did on Buddy, just the way he's built I think and this will sit the cinch back off the shoulder area therefor a bit more back off the front area behind the breast without riding forward.

The first abscess healed but a second one opened up. It’s right below the first. The vet thought maybe she poked herself on fence wire. We’re pretty sure there isn’t any wire in there, I ran the metal detector over her jaw. She’s still on penicillin and the second hole is starting to heal. She doesn’t like having her chin wiped off to clean it but has no problem with me using the hose to wash it off. There’s a lot less pus now. I have been cleaning it with betadine even though she doesn’t care for it. Just have to keep following her head while she jerks it up. Good thing she’s little. She likes being brushed and her dull dead looking coat is shedding out. The senior feed and some alfalfa pellets are doing a good job on her. All of her legs are covered in scars. I wonder if they all are from her trailer loading disaster? She did flip over and got caught up under the fender.

GR, yeah I like having a second pair of eyes too, but I'm about ready to go it on my own-even finding my own way around Omaha to look at houses in other areas of the city. Two I found on Zillow yesterday already had offers. I don't know how I missed when they were posted on the 3rd. I say 3 om Z last night in an area where I hadn't been looking. They had been posted for a day or more. Contacted my realtor & 2 of them already have pending offers. I'm still waiting for my daughter to get up (it's 10:00 for pete's sake!) to schedule a time to look at the third one. I think she is getting tired of looking with me, which I can understand since she works full time. I think I'll just get my GPS going on my phone & take out on my own when I find something I want to look at before it's gone.

LMM, houses are going fast here too. You see them pop up and the next day listed as contingent or pending. Great if you’re selling but tough if you’re buying. No negotiation room either because the seller knows someone else is just going to come in with a full price offer. We had some OR friends come up and look for a couple of days and everything they looked at sold within weeks of their visit. Another friend wants to move here and is finding it hard to find a place with both a home and the acreage she needs in her price range. She has quite a few horses even though she has downsized once already.

HS, that's what I ran into in Tucson too, only I was on the selling end. Just no inventory in the entry level/downsizing ranges. My daughter & SIL ended up going with me today. Really did not like the house or the area. It was on a long cul-de-sac, maybe 15 houses & according to Zillow 5 of them had recently sold or are listed as being for sale. Makes me wonder what is wrong that so many people on that one street are wanting to move. Got a better web site to check for listings. My realtor told us that Zillow is very slow to update info and a lot of the houses listed as pre-foreclosure are only 2 payments behind. Hoping inventory picks up after the holiday weekend. Pretty sure it's going to level out soon.

One of the couples from church is buying a home s of Bolivar. Everything is going really quick. Even their sale, he had shoulder surgery and decided to retire since he just can't keep up with cattle now. Actually he retired from WMart about 3 yrs ago, he was in charge of personel. Their place was BEAUTIFUL I can't believe they're selling it but they'll be a lot closer to town.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my phone when it comes to putting in an address and letting her tell me where to turn and how many miles till I'm there. And it's so easy.

It’s so hard right now with all the fires in the west. Currently we are safe and have no fires currently in our area. We did have some smoke for a few days but it wasn’t at all bad. Seeing the news and posts from across the west coast is heartbreaking. So many fires, and a very powerful wind storm right now. We had some wind last night and power went out in a lot of places but it’s all calm now. The heat broke and some areas in MT are getting snow. It was chilly today but not real cold and the temperature goes back up into the 80’s tomorrow for a few more weeks. WA, OR, and CA are still in the high 90’s or higher. There are hurricane force winds blowing from north to south and fanning the fires. They are evacuating people by helicopters in some areas and others have been told to their shelter in place or go to an evacuation shelter in their town because many roads are impassable. It seems like the whole west coast states are on fire. One of my worst fears is fire. I wish DH was a little more sympathetic to my anxiety over this even though it isn’t affecting us. It has always been a big fear for me.
Fancy’s chin is healing but a second hole opened up and is still draining but not as much. She doesn’t like me to wipe it off and throws her head around when I do. However she is fine with me using the hose to clean her up. I will be so glad when she heals up. She’s still getting penicillin shots and has no problem with them either. What a funny girl she is. I did some approximate measuring of her today and it looks like she is 14-14.1hh. Is that too small for me to ride? DH thinks she’s too small but I’m not sure. She’s so sweet and I’m not even sure how broke she is. The guy said his grandkids rode her but I don’t have a lot of faith in what people tell you about a horse they are trying to move along. She is a great walking partner and DH is perfectly happy if that’s all she does because he loves walking with them and the others can be a handful at times. She walks exactly where she should be and stops as soon as you do. Ground ties even. Sage is getting worse. Today someone was shooting off on the hill, not really close but you could hear it quite well. She was so upset and distracted that she could hardly eat. Every evening all the horses get some senior feed. Sage gets a 2lb coffee can of that and one of alfalfa pellets. Fancy is getting the same right now too. The other 2 split another can full. Sage is put in the RP so she can eat in peace and as soon as Winnie and Whitey finish they will go hang out outside the pen. When Sage is finished we let her out. I’ve been haltering Fancy and removing her from the pasture to eat and get her shot and cleaned up. The pig sisters would eat every bite of Sage and Fancy’s feed if they could. Sage would hear a shot and trot around all wild eyed and then forget where her food was. She has heard plenty of shots before but these really upset her today. When the farrier was here to trim them she couldn’t seem to figure out what to do with her front feet while he picked up her backs. She had them splayed out wide and even fell over at one point. I just don’t know what to do with her. She acts like she doesn’t hear us or see us half the time.

Oregon is burning. So many fires, such high winds. Many of my friends are evacuating. Roads are closed everywhere. The whole west coast is on fire. I am so glad we moved but so sad and worried for my friends.

Well it looks like my old town is safe for now. They were evacuated for over a week. No houses in town burned. Our old house and all our neighbors survived. One friend at the far end of the road, about 7 miles away lost their garage. The house survived though, as did their water storage building and power building where their generator and solar batteries were housed. The family just a mile before them managed to save the 4 homes on the 300+ acre homestead but did lose a hay barn. They joined with other neighbors and pooled resources to fight the fire on their road when the regular firefighters had to retreat for their own safety as the flames were overtaking them. They are loggers and cut firebreaks around the houses and the neighbors houses too. They had 8 dozers, some water tenders and their own hand crew. The only residence I know that was lost was a camp that one guy had that was in thick trees. He lived in an old RV and a wall tent. Some outbuildings were lost. They also cut firebreaks around the town so when the paid crews arrived they just improved them. So many homes on the highway leading up there were lost. They did a helicopter fly over video and it was hard to recognize anything. All the landmarks were gone. Yesterday they finally had power restored and were able to return home. Everyone lost all the food in their fridges and freezers from having the power out for over a week. Not a mess you want to come home to but they are so glad they have that and not just smoldering piles of rubble. The weather has cooled down and some rain has fallen so it’s a great improvement on the fires. We’ve had the smoke here for days and no fires. So thankful my friends are safe.

I wonder how many are people started? selfish arsonists seems like a lot of them out there. I'm glad your area has cleared up. Did you see that Green River got 5" of snow with hurricane winds, 80 mph! it did millions of dollars of damage. My girl friends drove around taking video and it was awful....end times? It would suck to lose all your food, with this covid I imagine some have been laid off.
Our store is doing renovating and everything is in kaos but it's really nice too. New cabinets, with glass and lighting, nice new floors etc..
I got a three day weekend, and had already planned on Anthony helping me on Sunday and Monday so we started a day early. My tack shed which is only 4x8x12 has sunk into the mud and the bottom was nothing but a mire. I planned on building another or turning one of the run ins into my new tack shed but I really like my 4x8 for all the things I need really close to the corral. So we broke off the wooden flooring, jacked it up where it is out of the mud and on Monday we'll put a load of gravel under it, put RR ties around it and pour cement inside. And it will be cheaper too. YEA!
Hows the house hunting going? we have people from the big cities in other states buying houses here unseen. Fleeing while they can before the rioters burn down their properties!!!

I'm glad I got my townhouse in Tucson sold during the seller's market, but I'm having a heck of a time finding one here that I like, can afford, and is in a safe area. Put in an offer on one this morning. The third offer I've made on a house this week. I haven't been lucky enough to get either of the others, hoping the third time is a charm. My daughter & SIL usually go with me to look. I like getting their opinions & they know the good and bad areas. Alison commented again this morning the the kitchen in the house we were looking at looked "dated". Well, it probably is but I figure that is only cosmetic and it's the price range I can afford without getting in over my head. Heck, I'm looking "dated" too. I turn 67 next month. I can sure tell that my body is getting older & creakier since I stopped riding. Omaha is so hilly that most of the houses are split entry or raised ranch. At least with the raised ranch your garage is going to stay warmer and once you get up the stairs from your car everything is on one level, except maybe the laundry is in the basement.

LMM, my folks had a stairlift put in their house where the garage was located at basement level. That ended the problem of having to use the stairs. It was originally for his son with MS that could no longer climb stairs and that was the only way to get in the house since the other doors were all on the upper level and you had to go up stairs or walk all the way around the house going uphill. I would be more concerned with the safety and convenience of the neighborhood than the dated look. We’ve probably lived through that era before and could have some good memories. I had orange burlap on my bedroom walls and lived to tell the tale. We also bought a house once with a very purple bathroom that someone had put those 60’s flower stickers on the walls.

HS, one of the houses I submitted an offer on & didn't get had the old, 4 inch PINK bathroom tile. But, there are worse things than a pink bathroom. My offer yesterday was accepted!!! We put an escalation clause for $750 over the highest competing offer and, surprisingly, the other offers were for the asking price. I was ready to go $10,000. aver asking price so I saved a bunch of money there. I did offer to pay $2000 of the seller's closing costs but even so, my realtor & I feel like I got a a good bargain. Floors on the main level are all hard wood (easier to keep clean with the pets). Kitchen has been updated a little, but I'll have to buy a fridge & microwave. I might finally get a French door fridge! I'll try to post a link to the zillow pictures f you are interested. The area (we drove around a bit) is well kept up & close to a Target, Menards, & (my faves)Chick-fil-a, Panda Express & Taco Bell). Closing is scheduled for 10/30. I love being close to my daughter but can't wait to get back into my own place & cook again! www.zillow.com/homedetails/5506-N-69th-St-Omaha-NE-68104/75859855_zpid/?mmlb=g,0
